Psycho Analytic Theory

Psychoanalytic theory was developed by Sigmund Freud in the late 19th/early 20th century. Freud proposed that human behavior and personality are determined by dynamics of the unconscious mind and early childhood experiences, and that these dynamics can be revealed through psychoanalysis and the examination of dreams. He developed concepts such as the id, ego, and superego; defense mechanisms; and psychosexual stages of development to explain human behavior and psychopathology. Psychoanalytic theory was highly influential and established foundations for modern psychodynamic thought, though it has also received significant criticism over the years from other perspectives in psychology.

Psychoanalytic Theory Was the first of many psychodynamic theories to follow many
within a direct line from Freudian thinking.

*Behavioral theories on the other hand hold that behavior is in response to external
stimuli responses are learned and over time appear as automatic.

Some would hold the possibility of internal stimuli however, such cannot be seen and
or measured and thus are not a fit subject for science.

*Phenomenological theories hold that the human is in process of becoming and just
is.
