Overview of Tubectomy Procedures

Tubectomy, also known as tubal sterilization, is a permanent surgical method of contraception where a woman's fallopian tubes are cut, tied, or clipped to prevent eggs from reaching the uterus. There are different surgical approaches including laparoscopy, micro-laparoscopy, laparotomy during C-section, and minilaparotomy. The procedure involves making a small incision in the abdomen to access the fallopian tubes. It is highly effective with a failure rate of 0.5-3.6% and has principal advantages of being highly effective, using a small incision, being discreet, and having a low risk of side effects.

AND FIXED,BOTH OF WHICH KEEPS EGGS
FROM ACHIEVING THE UTERUS FOR
IMPLANTATION. TUBAL LIAGATION IS VIEWED
AS A LASTING TECHNIQUE FOR DISINFECTION
AND CONCEPTION PREVENTION.
DEFINITION
TUBECTOMY ALSO REFFERED TO,AS TUBAL
STERILIZATION IS A SURGICAL PROCEDURE
DONE ON WOMEN AS A PERMANENT METHOD
OF CONTRACEPTION.
TYPES OF TUBECTOMY
THERE ARE DIFFERENT SURGICAL APPROACHES
FOR THE TUBAL STERILIZATION OPERATIONS
ARE
1. LAPAROSCOPY
2. MICROLAPAROSCOPY
3. LAPAROTOMY(CONCURRENT WITH
CESAREAN DELIVERY)
4. MINILAPAROTOMY
5. HYSTEROSCOPY
6. VAGINAL APPROCHES
PROCEDURE
Under this tubectomy is indicated when a women who
does not wish to conceive in the future voluntarily
request this permanent method of sterilization.
A small incision is made in the abdomen to gain
access to the woman’s fallopian tube that are then cut ,
tied or clipped. This is done under local anesthesia.
It blocks the fallopian tubes in the female so that the
eggs produced by the ovaries cannot unite the sperm.
EFFECTIVENESS
The efffectiveness of tubectomy varies according to
the age of the women but is still among the highest
of contraceptive methods , with a failure rate of 0.5-
3.6%.
SIDE EFFECTS
The most common complications include
1. Bleeding from a skin incision or inside the
abdomen
2. Pain after procedure
3. Infection
4. Damage to other organs inside the abdomen
5. Side effects from anesthesia
6. An ectopic pregnancy
PRINCIPAL ADVANTAGES OF TUBECTOMY

 Highly effective
 Small incision
 Discreet
 Low risk of side effects
