INTRODUCTION
Sports play an important role in
American society. They enjoy
tremendous popularity but
more important they are
vehicles for transmitting such
values as justice, fair play, and
teamwork. Sports have
contributed to racial and social
integration and over history
have been a "social glue"
bonding the country together.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL
• American Football is the most popular
sport in America. Football is also the
9th most popular sport all around the
world. The biggest Competition Organized
under the National Football League (NFL).
Football, or Gridiron, is More Popular in
Southern areas of America, Like Texas,
Florida, and California.
• People of America come by the thousands
to watch games in stadiums. In 2012 the
league had an average attendance of
67,604 fans at each game. That is more
than any other sports league in the world.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL
The purpose of the game is to move the ball
towards, and ultimately into, the opposition's
end zone. This is achieved by either running
with the ball until tackled, or throwing the ball
downfield to a team-mate.

BASEBALL
• Baseball is another popular sport
in America. This sport is also
known as the United State’s
national pastime. In America,
there are mainly two levels of
baseball competition, minor
league baseball and Major
League Baseball (MLB).
• The popularity of baseball has
not just touched a great height in
America but all over the world.
BASEBALL
• Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played
between two opposing teams, typically of
nine players each, that take turns batting
and fielding. The game proceeds when a
player on the fielding team, called the
pitcher, throws a ball which a player on the
batting team tries to hit with a bat.
BASKETBALL
• Basketball is one of the most popular
sports in the USA after Football &
Baseball. Also, it is the 10th most
followed sport in the world. Basketball
competitions are organized under the
National Basketball Association (NBA)
and Women’s National Basketball
Association (WNBA).
• NBA has produced some greatest
basketball players like Michael Jordan
and LeBron James. And, with an
estimated 14,000 attendance per match.

ICE HOCKEY
• It is known as “hockey”; the name “ice hockey”
is used in countries where “hockey” generally
refers to field hockey. It is the 4th most popular
sport in America. Hockey is most popular the
northern parts of the United States.
• The National Hockey League (NHL) is the
highest level for men’s hockey and the most
popular. America Won its first Gold Medal in
Winters Olympics. With the introduction of
artificial ice rinks, hockey has today become
one of the most popular pass-time indoor sport.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact
combat sport that allows a wide variety of
fighting techniques and skills from a mixture
of other combat sports to be used in
competition. The rules allow usage of both
striking and grappling techniques while
standing and on the ground. Ultimate
Fighting Championship (UFC) is a major
league in the USA.
WRESTLING
• Pro wrestling is another
popularly watched American
sport. World Wrestling
Entertainment, (WWE) is an
American integrated media and
entertainment company that is primarily
known for professional wrestling.
• John Cena, Undertaker,
Stone Cold, and The Rock are
some of the most popular
WWE superstars in the USA.
NASCAR
• Motor Sports, including auto-
car and motorcycle racing, is
one of the most watched sports
in Southern America. The National
Association for Stock Car Auto Racing
(NASCAR) is the most prominent
organization in the USA, which
organizes races in America.
Often, NASCAR competitors
compete internationally
(Daytona 500, Monaco Grand
Prix, etc).
OTHER SPORTS
• Tennis
• BMX/skateboarding
• Golf
• Soccer
• Lacrosse
TAILGATING
• Tailgating is essentially hanging out
before the game, stocked with plenty
of food, drink, sports gear, and good
company. If you're going to a game,
this is a great way to spend a full day
basking in the excitement and
socializing.
SUPERBOWL
• The Super Bowl is the annual
playoff championship game of the
National Football League (NFL). It
has served as the final game of every
NFL season since 1966, replacing the
NFL Championship Game.
