Scenario: BLEVE of flammable liquid in vertical cylindrical tank Threat Zone :

• Tank Dia.: 8.85 M; Tank Length: 13.35 M; Red: 744 M—(10.0 KW/Sqm)=potentially lethal within 60 sec)
• Tank Volume: 821 Cubic Meter, Fireball Dia.: 482 M Orange: 1.1 Km – (5.0 KW/sq m)=2nd degree burns within 60 sec)
• Burn duration: 25 Sec. Yellow: 1.7 Km (2 kW/sq m) = Pain within 60 sec.
Mitigation Measures:
1. It is recommended to have Alcohol storage tanks with dyke walls & must have spill collection and control (recycle)
arrangement to pump into another tank.
2. Clear distance between tanks will be provided as per the requirement of Petroleum Rules
3. Location of pumps, location of tank farm in the Industry will be as per the requirements of PESO Petroleum rules.
4. Necessary approval /License from Chief Controller of Explosives will be obtained for proposed alcohol storage. 45

• Avenue Plantation : Internal Roads to various Units, Bagasse; Pressmud; Ash Yards
• Shelter Belt Plantation: A thick barrier of trees to be created along periphery / fence.
• Mass Plantation : Vicinity of Ash & Bagasse Storage, Trees controlling dust planted.
• Plantation of Peculiar Tree Species - Noise Attenuation, Dust Suppression, Indigenous, Ever Green.
