Physics - Seminar - 1

This document provides an introduction to space and planets, and then summarizes information about Mars, Saturn, and Uranus. It discusses the location and key physical features of each planet, including atmospheric composition. Mars is described as the second nearest planet to Earth with a thin atmosphere. Saturn is noted as the second largest planet with iconic rings composed of ice particles. Uranus is outlined as the third largest planet with a greenish appearance and atmosphere consisting mainly of hydrogen and helium.

Introduction – Space and Planets

Space, most generally, might be described as the boundless container

of the universe. Its contents are all physical things that we know of,
and more. To describe the contents of space, we use terms of distance,
mass, force, motion, energy, and time.

A planet is an astronomical object orbiting a star or stellar remnant

that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity.

Mars

Mars was named by

Romans after their God of
War ,
Because its blood red colour
reminded them of the
Blood .
MARS
LOCATION :

 Mars is the fourth planet in distance form the Sun

and the second nearest planet from the Earth .
 It is smaller than the earth and nearly the half the
size of the earth .
 As it is far away from the sun so it is a Quiet cold
planet .
 It goes around the sun larger than the earths orbit
and takes 687 days to complete one revolution
around the sun .

Physical Factors :
There are several volcanoes
of Mars .
The planet Mars is
infamous for its largest dust
storm which can cover the
entire planet for a few
months.
Mars has 2 huge polar ice
caps like earth.
These ices are also
called dry ice of the mars.
Mars Atmosphere :

 They have very different

conditions compared to those
which we have on our earth .
 Although , Mars has a thin
atmosphere and seasons but
nothing goes there .
 The atmosphere of mars
contain a huge amount of
carbon-di-oxide and a small
quantities of nitrogen and
argon .
 It has a desert like surface and
its littered with dust and rocks .

Saturn

The Romans associated the god Saturn (Sāturnus) with the Greek god Cronus.
LOCATION :
 Saturn Is the sixth planet
from the Sun .
 Saturn is the second
largest planet in the Solar
System .
 Saturn is similar in
size ,mass and
composition to the Jupiter
but it is cooler than the
Jupiter .
 It is about 700 times
Physical Factors :
 Saturn is a giant ball with no solid surface .
 Saturn's interior is most likely composed of a
core of iron–nickel and rock (silicon and oxygen
compounds).
 Saturn middle layer is surrounded my a deep
layer of metallic hydrogen .
 It has the most beautiful seven rings that
encircle the planet .
 Those rings are made up of ice particles that
travel around the planet .

Atmosphere :
 Saturn's cloudy, windy atmosphere is
responsible for some of its most distinctive
features.
 The yellowish hue of the planet comes from
ammonia clouds in its atmosphere.
 The outer atmosphere of Saturn contains 96.3%
molecular hydrogen and 3.25% helium by
volume.
 This gas giant made mostly of hydrogen and
helium is easily recognized by its yellowish
color..

The name of Uranus references the

ancient Greek deity of the sky
Uranus.

Location :

 Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun .

 It is the third largest planet in the solar
system .
 It takes 17 hours and 14 minutes to complete
one rotation.
 It takes nearly 84 earth years to complete one
revolution .
 Uranus is similar in composition to Neptune,
and both have bulk chemical compositions .

Physical Factors :
 Uranus is a giant ball of gas , both
Saturn and Uranus are somewhat
similar with their Physical Factors.
 It is mostly filled with Hydrogen
and Methane Gas which give a
greenish appearance when we see
it through a telescope .
 It is not as hard as Earths surface ,
Saturn and Uranus does not have a

Atmosphere:

 Uranus' atmosphere
consists mainly of molecular
hydrogen and atomic
helium with some methane,
water, and ammonia.
 The dull blue color of
Uranus is caused by the
presence of methane, which
absorbs red light.
 It has a cloudy and a dusty
atmosphere .
