Any factor that causes a
sustained change to the overall
energy gradient of earth can
lead to climate change – either
warmer or cooler depending

Natural Causes
 Volcanic eruptions
During major
explosive eruptions huge amounts
of volcanic gas, aerosol droplets,
and ash are injected into the
stratosphere. But volcanic gases like
SO2 can cause global cooling,
while volcanic CO2, a greenhouse
gas, can cause global warming.

in ocean circulation and Earth's
climate.
⪢ Perhaps one of the most apparent
factors contributing to Earth climate
change is the angle at which
the earth is tilted.

solar radiation reaching Earth's surface.
