Estonia
• Estonia is one of the smallest countries in Europe. It has a
fascinating history, lively and vibrant culture and offers
tourists an amazing variety of landscapes, from dense
forests inhabited by moose, bears and wild boars, to Baltic
beaches and coastal islands.
• Historical cities, castles, cathedrals, and aristocratic
mansions await visitors.
• Less than 20 years after secession from the USSR, Estonia
turned into a sympathetic European state that defended its
national identity in the turbulent events of modern history.
• The capital of Estonia is Tallinn.
Estonia
• Joining the European
Union in 2004 gave Estonia
a sense of belonging — this
time voluntarily — to a
larger cultural and
economic space.
• Estonian is close to Finnish,
and Estonians are culturally
closer to Finns than to
their neighbors from
Latvia, which borders
Estonia to the south.

perceived as cold and
unfriendly people. Their
culture does not
encourage a tendency to
spontaneous fun and
revelry.
• In general, Estonians are a
very friendly nation, and
English is very common
among them.
