• Aluminum facade systems are known as durable building materials.
Aluminum can resist environmental effects thanks to its high-strength
properties. Its stainless property ensures long-lasting use even in humid
and salty areas. In addition, the aluminum material is resistant to UV
rays and does not have problems such as fading or discoloration. This
means that aluminum facade systems remain maintenance-free for many
years.
• Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
• Aluminum facade systems reduce the environmental impact of
structures by providing energy efficiency. The high thermal insulation
properties of aluminum profiles reduce the energy consumption of
buildings. Special profile designs that block heat bridges minimize heat
losses and reduce heating/cooling costs. In addition, aluminum is a
recyclable material, which indicates that it is an environmentally
sustainable option. Aluminum facade systems play an important role in
the design and certification of green buildings.
• Light Weight and Easy Installation
• Aluminum facade systems can be easily transported and installed as
they are lightweight building materials. This feature saves time and
labor in construction projects. In addition, the ability to easily shape
aluminum profiles provides adaptability and customizability to different
projects. The assembly process is completed quickly and efficiently,
which helps to ensure that projects are delivered on time.
• Low Maintenance Requirement
• Aluminum facade systems are an option that requires low
maintenance. The fact that the aluminum material is stainless and
durable ensures that it can withstand many years without decay or
deterioration. Therefore, the maintenance costs of aluminum facade
systems are low. Usually, regular cleaning and visual checks are
sufficient. It does not require annual maintenance routines and thus
offers an economical option for businesses and property owners.
• Aluminum facade systems have many advantages such as aesthetics,
durability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. It offers a variety of
design options in architectural projects, giving buildings a modern and
stylish look. Thanks to its durable structure, it provides long-lasting use
and does not require maintenance. It also reduces environmental
impacts by providing energy efficiency and is a sustainable option as it
is suitable for recycling. Aluminum facade systems are a widely
preferred material in the construction industry and are expected to

Rehabilitation
When it comes to rethinking a building's envelope,
STACBOND’s composite panel solutions delve into the
development of ventilated facades. These facade systems
serve as an architectural strategy for energy-efficient
building renovations. Minimizing energy consumption for
heating and cooling, the rehabilitation strategy incorporates
thermal insulation, moisture management, and thermal mass
optimization.
Enhancing the energy performance of existing buildings through refurbishment processes provides
the opportunity to create more comfortable and sustainable environments, while also improving
their functionality, aesthetics, and safety. Architectural approaches to these renovations encompass
various aspects of a building, including interior spaces, structure, internal systems, and facades.

How does a ventilated facade system work?

Ventilated facades, comprising key components such as anchors, an insulating layer, an external leaf,
and crowning elements, seamlessly integrate to form a highly efficient and functional structure for
exterior enclosures. Anchors secure spaces on the interior leaf and prevent facade collapse. Profiles
are attached to these anchors for support assemblies, while the insulating layer enhances thermal
and acoustic insulation. Responsible for the chimney effect, the external leaf separates interior and
exterior environments, safeguarding the original facade during rehabilitation projects. On top of the
ventilated facade, the crown blocks water and allows ventilation.

The system enables an insulating layer together with an outer leaf to be placed on top of an inner
leaf, all through a supporting metal structure. At the same time, the design strategy creates a gap
between these layers for airflow, generating natural ventilation known as the “chimney effect”. Its
primary purpose is to moderate the exchange of heat and air, as well as light that circulates between
the building’s interior and exterior.
• Besides their energy savings due to their chimney effect, ventilated facade
systems offer various advantages in terms of habitability and construction.
They reduce thermal jumps, avoid humidity and thermal bridges, and lighten
the building envelope. Meanwhile, the use of lightweight materials (such as
aluminum) for the anchored exterior cladding facilitates transportation,
installation, and long-term maintenance.
• By replacing worn-out or deficient materials with these technologies,
architects and designers can achieve outstanding acoustic and thermal
insulation, positively impacting the sustainability of any construction project.
In fact, ventilated facades can ultimately result in an estimated energy saving
of 30%.
