• Scoring: A rally is declared won when the shuttlecock touches the court of
the opponent or is struck out of bounds by the opponent. If a competitor
wins a rally, they receive a point. In singles, games are contested to 21
points, and a match is won by the player who wins two out of three games.
• A player performs a fault when they make an improper shot, erroneously
serve, or make a foot error. A player also makes a mistake if they contact the
net with their racket or body, hit the shuttlecock consecutively twice, or miss
the net altogether.
• Players switch ends after each game and whenever the top player's score
hits a certain level.
• layers switch ends following each game as well as when the leading player's
score hits 11 in the third game.
• Lets: When there is play obstruction, a let is signaled. This can happen if a
player moves in the way of an opponent's shot or if the shuttlecock gets
stuck on the net.
• Timeouts: During the course of the game, each participant is permitted one-
minute timeouts.
Rules in Badminton
doubles
• The field is wider but the dimensions are the
same as for singles.
• Each player has a particular area of the court to
cover, and there are two players on each half of
the court.
• The opponent's service court is reached by
serving directly across the court.
• In order to return the serve, the receiving team
must first let it descend into the service court.
• Following the serve, the shuttlecock may be hit
by either team until it hits the floor or exits the
court.
Rules badminton
• The shuttle is deemed in if it touches the line.
• Each team can only strike the shuttlecock once before it
must cross the net.
doubles • The rally proceeds if the shuttlecock touches the net
during play and crosses it.
• A player's body or racket cannot contact the net.
• To strike the shuttlecock, a player cannot extend their
arm over the net.
• The shuttlecock is out of bounds if it touches the court's
perimeter or the roof.
• The game is won by the first squad to score 21 points.
• (The game continues if the score is tied at 20-20 until one
side has a two-point advantage. The best of three rounds
format is frequently used for matches).
- Specific rules for the serve
• The service court, which is a designated space on the court's right side for right-
hand service and left side for left-hand service, is where the server must stand.
• Both of the server's feet must be firmly planted on the ground, one inside the
service area and the other outside.
• Until it is served, the server must hold the shuttlecock in an open palm and
refrain from touching it with the racket.
• The racket head must be facing downward and the serve must be delivered
below the server's waist.
• The opponent's service court must be reached by serving obliquely across the
court.
• The shuttlecock must cross the net during the serve and fall inside the opposing
team's service court.
• Before it has been served, the receiver must not move or contact the shuttlecock.
