What is the
2 datum in the nautical chart?

A chart datum is the water level surface serving as origin of depths displayed on a nautical chart.

The chart datum is the level of water that charted depths displayed on nautical charts are measured from.

A chart datum is generally derived from some tidal phase.

Common chart datums are lowest astronomical tide and mean lower low water.

The chart datum is generally a tidal datum; that is, a datum derived from some phase of the tide.

In non-tidal areas, e.g. the Baltic Sea, mean sea level is used.

What is above

Heights and depths from Chart Datum
– for charted depths where the seabed is below Chart Datum;

If you know the height of tide at a given time and location this will be the height above Chart Datum.
