RIGHTS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Understanding
Rights and
Responsibility
The term “Haqq” is an Arabic
word that describes both rights
and responsibilities. The two
words are inseparable in Islam.
This is the reason Islam
commands the Muslims to
understand and preserve both
rights and responsibilities of
people.

JIHAD AND PEACE
JIHAD
It has an Arabic term which literally means “to strive” or
“to struggle” in the way of Islam. Although it is often
translated in English as Holy War, it must be noted that
war has never been describe in Islam as Holy.

The word connotes a broad spectrum of activities ranging

from daily striving to meet daily challenges. Therefore,
Jihad is not only limited to war for it includes struggling
with one’s soul, speech, body and wealth to attain peace.
Forms of Jihad:

● Jihad against the Self

● Jihad against the Devil
● Jihad against the Tongue
● Jihad against Aggression and
Oppression
● Jihad against wrong doers
JIHAD
War AND
is not the PEACE
objective of Islam
nor it is the normal course of a
Muslim. Islam is the religion of
peace, its meaning is peace,
one of Allah’s names is Peace,
and all Chapters in the Qur’an
begins with Allah’s name being
the Most Merciful. The daily
greetings of Muslims is peace,
and the word Muslim is an
adjective of Peace. Therefore,
Peace is the nature, the
meaning, emblem and
objective of Islam.
Rights of the
Non-Muslims in
Islamic State
“Beware! Whoever is cruel and
hard on non-Muslim minority, or
curtails their rights, or burdens
them with more than they can bear,
or takes anything from them
against their free will; I (Prophet
Muhammad) will complain against
him on the Day of Judgement.”
—Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH)
Rights of the Non-Muslims in
Islamic State
1. If they are attacked, the Muslims must defend them.
2. They will not be dissuaded from following their
religion.
3. Their lives must be secured.
4. Their wealth, goods and caravans must be secured.
5. Their lands must be secured.
6. Their religious leaders must be respected.
7. Their religious buildings must be secured and

CONCLUSION
Islam is without a doubt, a religion of peace as it aims to upheld
righteousness and eradicate all evil. It teaches, not just religious
obligations but also molds the people to become a morally
responsible citizens. Nonetheless, it is sad that it is Islam which
became the real victim of misquotations, misrepresentations and
misinterpretations due to ignorance of many. With the on going
religious global issues, it is just mandatory for us to seek for the
truth as truth stands out clearly from error.
