What is P.E?
• Physical Education is "education through the
physical". It aims to develop students' physical
competence and knowledge of movement and
safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a
wide range of activities associated with the
development of an active and healthy lifestyle.
Goals of Physical
Education that consists of
4 aspects
Physical DevelopmentPhysical
– Fitness
• is the capacity of the body to engage in work and
play without undue fatigue is the foremost aim of
physical education. This is to achieve through
regular exercise and participation in varied vigorous
activities.
Social
Social Development –
Relationship
• A learner seldom gets into vigorous physical activity
by himself. He play, dance or exercise with people.
In the process, he learns to respect others, practices
fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork and develops
leadership
Mental Development –Sound Mind
• Make the person aware of sports skills and
knowledge about rules, health principles, and
exercise systems. Gives firmness and confidence to
the mind and brain of a person. This is the secret of
a person’s mental development.
Emotional
Emotional Development –
Strength
• Through engaging the students to physical activities,
students develop and are able to express their
feelings and emotions.
4 Domains of Physical
Activity
Occupational
• This are the activities you do at your work place.
Imagine that you are already at your immersion,
lifting computers, filling documents, or walking from
one office to another are examples of occupational
activities.
Domestic
• These are the activities you do at home. Washing
clothes & dishes, gardening, carpentry or repairing
furniture, baking homecooked cookies, or cleaning
the house.
Transportation
• These are the activities that involve travelling.
Riding a jeepney, tricycle, motorcycle, or bicycle.
Leisure Time
• These are the activities you do during recreational
activities. Playing, swimming, hiking or craft making.
