Voluntary Time Off (VTO)
When staffing capacity is higher than needed, we offer Voluntary Time Off (VTO) to
eligible employees allowing them to take time off as opportunities are offered.
VTO is unpaid and excused time off. It does not take away from available time off
balances.

Vacation Time
The amount of vacation earned is based on
employee class, completed years of service,
whether an employee is hourly or salaried,
and pay frequency
• Eligible employees may have a vacation time balance
of up to 160 hours
• Vacation is submitted through AtoZ
• All unused vacation will carry over from one year to
the next
• Managers must approve all vacation requests in
advance via email

Paid Personal Time (PPT)
For eligible employees (Class F, R & H), Paid
Personal Time can be used for any purpose,
including sick time or personal business
• The amount of earnable PPT is based on employee
class
• Eligible employees earn an initial grant each year,
then earn additional PPT each pay period up to their
calendar year earning maximum
• All unused vacation will carry over from one year to
the next

Time Off can be used for any purpose, including
sick time or personal business
• The amount of earnable PTO and the PTO
balance cap are based on work location
• Eligible employees earn an initial grant each
year, then earn additional PPT each pay period
up to their calendar year earning maximum
• All unused PTO will carry over from one year to
the next

Paid Sick Time
• Eligible Class F, R & H employees may use accrued
Vacation, PPT, and/or PTO for Paid Sick Time
purposes, depending on location
• Eligible Class X, Q, I, M & S employees may use
accrued PTO for Paid Sick Time purposes across all
locations
• When an employee uses paid time off for a Paid Sick
Time purpose for more than 3 consecutive days
without advance notice, Amazon may require
reasonable documentation that the absence qualifies
as a Paid Sick Time purpose

Leaves of Absence
Amazon offers a variety of options for Leave of Absence
(LOA) to accommodate situations that may not be managed
with accrued paid time or unpaid time off options.
LOA policies provide leave for an employee’s own medical
condition only if (among other things), the employee has a:
• Legally recognized disability
• Work-related injury or illness
• Serious health condition as defined by the FMLA or company
policy
