• Physical Education came from the Latin word
"physica", means physics and "educatio" means the
training of the bodily organs and power with a view
to the promotion of hearts and vigor.
• Physical education is an essential part of general
education, aiming to develop physical, social,
emotional, spiritual, and mental traits through
physical activities. It focuses on developing physical
competence, good habits, and intelligence.
• Physical education is taught at pre-school,
elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and is
classified as Sports and Recreation and Leisure.
• It promotes physical development and well-being,
enabling individuals to fulfill life responsibilities
effectively and be satisfied with their interpersonal
relationships. Physical education helps students
acquire skills and develop an affection for physical
activities.

The commission has promulgated policies, standards, and
guidelines to nationalize physical education in the Philippines,
in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 7722, also known as
the "Higher Education Act of 1994." In article XIV, section 19, in
this line with the Philippines' constitution, which mandates the
promotion of physical education, sports programs, league
competitions, and amateur sports to foster self-discipline,
teamwork, and excellence, ultimately fostering a healthy and
alert citizenry.

physical education asa part of the curriculum
• The importance of physical education as part of the
curriculum is in the 1986 Philippines constitution,
Article XIV, Sec. 19 which states the "the state shall
promote physical education and encourages sports
programs, league competitions and amateur sports,
including training for internationals competitions, to
further self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence for
the development of a healthy alert citizenry.
B. THE CURRICULUM PHILOSOPHY OF

should be a process of experience,
progressing from the simple type, from small
youngsters to none advance movement.

age, gender, and overall health. It is essential to treat the
body like a temple, ensuring it remains healthy for
decades. Although hereditary factors can affect fitness,
lifestyle can help maintain it.
