Nepal Health Professional Council(NHPC)
• Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC) is an autonomous body
established under the Nepal Health Professional Council Act 2053(1997).
• It has a council body chaired by chaired person, elected and nominated
members and one appointed Registrar.
• It is located in Bansbari Kathmandu.
• The aim of this council is to register all the "Health professionals" other
than Medical doctors , Nurses , Pharmacists, and Ayurveda according to
their qualification; and bring them into a legal system as to make their
services effective with quality and timely in a scientific manner.
• It registers the Health professionals like HA, CMA, Medical Laboratory
technologists, Medical laboratory technician, Medical laboratory assistant,
Diploma or Bachelor or above qualification in radiography, BPH, MPH
• Short term training (generally less than one year) like MCHW, VHW are not
required to register in the council.
Functions, Duties and Powers of Council
The functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as
follows:
1. To make necessary policies for smoothly operating the health
profession related activities.
2. To determine the curricula, terms of admission and policies on
examination system of educational institutions imparting
teaching and learning on health profession and evaluate and
review the related matters.
3. To determine the qualifications of health professionals and to
provide for the registration of the names of health professionals
having required qualifications.
Code of conduct of Health Assistant
• A code of conduct is a set of rules outlining the responsibilities of , or
proper practices for, an individual , party or organization
• A code of conduct is intended to be a central guide and reference for user
in support of day-to-day decision making. It Is meant to clarify an
organization’s mission, values and principles’ linking them with standards
of professional conduct. As a reference , it can be used to locate relevant
documents, services and other resources related to ethics within the
organization.
• Codes of conduct offer an invaluable opportunity for responsible
organization to create a positive public identity for themselves which can
lead to a more supportive political and regulatory environment and an
increased level of public confidence and trust among important
constituencies and stakeholders.
• The National Health Professional Council(NHPC) has in accordance with
the NHPC Act 2053, NHPC approved this code of ethics according to
clause of 9(1) of NHPC Act 2053, for HA, AHW, those registered under it,
are to be abide by the code of ethics is as follows.

required minimum qualification for

• Specialized level- having passed at least master in other
