NARRATIVE
A Narrative is a story. As a method of
development, storytelling can be very
effective for the simple reason that
people love to hear stories and will tune
in to a story when their eyes glaze over at
other styles of writing.

- The main purpose of the author/writer is to
give description to the characters, places or
events that is mentioned in the text that you
are reading
There are 2 TYPES of Description:
SUBJECTIVE
OBJECTIVE
Subjective
Description:
The writer is describing
an impression of
what is observed.
“CREATIVE
Just like in the line “It WAY”
was a dark and
lonely night.”

The writer presents an

3. DEFINITION
This tries to define words that are more
difficult to understand by looking at
context clues.
SYNONYMS
Words that are similar / close in meaning
ANTONYMS
Words that are different in meaning
EXAMPLE
My brother is a mischievous child,
but my mother sees him as a good
kid.
EXAMPLE
The crime that he did was egregious,
he will never recover from this terrible
sin.
4. EXEMPLIFICATION
In developing a paragraph using exemplification
(or illustration).
The writer will try to give more examples for the
reader to better understand the text
