ERBA H360 Hematology Analyzer

A Beginner's Guide for Sales,

Application, and Service Engineers
Introduction to ERBA H360

• 3-part Hematology Analyzer for CBC testing

• Measures RBC, WBC, and PLT with high precision
• Compact size with 10.4-inch touchscreen display
Blood Sample Types & Volumes

• Whole Blood: 9 μL
• Capillary Blood: 20 μL (via capillary tube/micropipette)
• Pre-diluted Blood: 20 μL (important for thicker samples)
• Lower sample volume saves reagent cost
Main Parameters Measured

• Total 22 Parameters:
• RBC-related: 8, WBC-related: 7, PLT-related: 6
• Directly measured: WBC, RBC, PLT, HB, MCV
• Calculated (e.g., HCT = (RBC × MCV)/10)
Machine Features

• Touchscreen operation (10.4 inch)

• Impedance method for cell counting
• Precision: WBC <2%, PLT <4% on retesting
• Carryover: <0.5%
Reagents & Consumables

• Diluent: For cell sizing and cleaning

• Lyse: Destroys RBCs/PLTs, frees HB, stains WBCs
• Onboard reagent stability: 60 days
• Loan reagent function: RFID machines only
Good Practices for Sample
Handling
• Use K2 EDTA tubes (2 mL)
• Roll blood samples for 8–10 minutes at 45 rpm
• Test within 2 hours (or refrigerate 2–8°C for max 7–8 hrs)
• Warm refrigerated samples to room temp before testing
Basic Troubleshooting

• No HB or WBC diff: Check Lyse first

• Low or missing results: Check Diluent
• Background requirements (WBC<0.2, RBC<0.02, etc.)
• Adjust MCV if HCT values are abnormal
Key Technical Specs

• Background: Ideally 0 (acceptable ranges provided)

• Carryover: Less than 0.5%
• Precision: High retest accuracy for WBC and PLT
• Small sample volume = lower reagent use
