Śukra is formed from majjā dhātu, hence it is also known as majjā rasa (essence of majjā). The mode of
conversion of Ahara Rasa into shukra is explained by:
Ksheerdadhi nyaaya, Khalekapot nyaaya, Kedari kulya nyaaya.

TIME REQUIRED
• According to Acharya Sushruta nearly one month is required.
• Parashara opines that eight days are enough for Shukra Nirmana from the Ahara Rasa.
• Finally, Acharya Vagbhata quoted all views of different authors, either it may take twenty-four hours or
six days or one month.
• According to Acharya Chakrapani, if Dhatvagni is at optimum level, then process of Shukra
production occurs at speed of "Archi" and produced within eight days. If Dhatvagni is at moderate
level, Shukra Nirmana takes place at the speed of "Shabda" and produces Shukra Dhatu within two
to three weeks. And if Dhatvagni is at mild level, the process of Shukra pro-duction takes place at the
speed "Jala".

The Ahara Rasa derived from the consumed Ahara by
Jatharagni’s action is subjected to Rasa Dhatavagni to produce
AARTAV NIRMITI Rasa dhatu. And this Rasa dhatu produces Artava as its
updhatu. As this Rasa Dhatu goes on decreasing qualitatively &
quantitatively with age, it occurs same with Upadhatu. We find
the absence of Aartava and Stanya in the old female.
• आर्तवं च यद्यपि Some acharya described that artav when we consider it as the

ROLE OF KAPHA DOSHA IN AARTAVA
NIRMAN

Kapha and Rasa play an important role in formation of its Upadhatu Artava, as they have
ashrayashrayi bhav. So, though artav or streebeeja is considered as agneya but basic genesis
also needs prithvi and jala mahabhutas i.e. prakrut kapha dosha in the initial process.
