CLOUD

whyyyy
• The phrase originates from the cloud symbol
used by flow charts and diagrams to
symbolize the Internet.
Definition
• Cloud computing is the delivery of computing
services—including servers, storage,
databases, networking, software, analytics,
and intelligence—over the Internet (“the
cloud”)
Types
• There are four main types of cloud
computing:
• Private clouds
• Public clouds
• Hybrid clouds
• Multiclouds.
Public cloud

• Public clouds are owned and operated by a third-

party cloud service providers, which deliver their
computing resources like servers and storage over
the Internet.
• Microsoft Azure is an example of a public cloud.
• With a public cloud, all hardware, software and
other supporting infrastructure is owned and
managed by the cloud provider.
• You access these services and manage your account
using a web browser.
Private cloud

• A private cloud refers to cloud computing resources

used exclusively by a single business or
organisation.
• A private cloud can be physically located on the
company’s on-site datacenter.
• Some companies also pay third-party service
providers to host their private cloud.
• A private cloud is one in which the services and
infrastructure are maintained on a private network.
Hybrid cloud

• Hybrid clouds combine public and private

clouds, bound together by technology that
allows data and applications to be shared
between them.
• A hybrid cloud gives your business greater
flexibility, more deployment options and helps
optimise your existing infrastructure, security
and compliance.
cloud is the Internet
• When something is in the cloud, it means it's
stored on Internet servers instead of your
computer's hard drive.
• More specifically, it's all of the things you can
access remotely over the Internet.
Cloud Storage – Data Storage
• They are not floating around in cyberspace.
• Cloud space exists on individual servers found
at data centres and server farms around the
world.
• Data centre and collocation providers offer
server space for cloud computing.
Examples
• Dropbox, a file storage and sharing system.
• Microsoft Azure - backup and disaster
recovery services, hosting
• Rackspace - data, security, and infrastructure
services.

• Cloud storage allows you to save data and files in an off-
site location that you access either through the public
internet or a dedicated private network connection.
• Data that you transfer off-site for storage becomes the
responsibility of a third-party cloud provider.
cloud computing services

computing services:
• Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
• Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS)
• Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
