Puto and Kutsinta are two famous Filipino snacks that share
some similarities, but they also have clear differences. The two snacks
are similar because both are steamed rice cakes, or Kakanin, which
means they are cooked using steam. Also, both are very popular
Filipino snacks (merienda) that people enjoy all year round. However,
they are different in key ways. First, Puto is fluffy and soft, while
Kutsinta is sticky and chewy, like a jelly. Second, Puto is usually light-
colored (white or green), but Kutsinta is brown or reddish-brown.
Finally, Puto is often topped with cheese, but Kutsinta is always
topped with fresh, grated coconut meat.
