A more equitable and truly borderless access to research infrastructures can help strengthen the #EUResearchArea. The EU is committed to supporting access to advanced facilities, resources and services that drive scientific excellence and foster cross-border collaboration. Over the past two decades, more than 20,000 researchers have benefited from EU research and innovation programmes Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) and Horizon Europe (2021-2027), gaining access to #ResearchInfrastructures across Europe. Through transnational access (TNA), they have been able to travel, visit and carry out research at no cost. A new study looks at how TNA mechanisms promote fair access to research facilities, drawing on insights from EU-funded projects. It also puts forward recommendations from an independent expert to enhance the efficient use, impact and inclusiveness of these infrastructures by: 🔹 Broadening and balancing participation. 🔹 Increasing the efficient use of infrastructures. 🔹 Strengthening inclusiveness and strategic alignment. 🔹 Improving impact monitoring. 🔹 Raising data quality and collection. Behind every breakthrough is a researcher whose unique strengths power the journey from idea to impact. This year we asked researchers a simple question: What’s your scientific superpower? Their answers reveal that research is driven not only by methods and data, but by the mindset, values and skills each scientist brings to solving real-world challenges. From curiosity to strategic thinking, science communication, creativity and more - their “superpowers” remind us how diverse skills shape EU science today. Swipe through to read some inspiring quotes from the researchers who contributed and explore the 10 most compelling “superpowers”: https://lnkd.in/gB_2W6cr #ResearchCareers

1 in 3 women. 682 million stories of harm. Violence against women must stop - at home and online. As we approach the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the latest World Health Organization report is a stark reminder of the scale of this global crisis: 🛑1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence. 🛑 682 million were subject to violence from their partners at least once in their lifetime. 🛑 Online abuse is rising sharply from cyberstalking and harassment to gendered hate speech and the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. EU-funded research offers hope. New tools can help detect and prevent domestic and online abuse. IMPRODOVA Project, improve_HEU and ISEDA help first responders, police authorities and communities offer earlier detection, stronger support and better protection for victims of domestic abuse. VIGILANT Project equips police authorities with new tools to analyse and combat harmful digital content, including misogyny, hate speech and gendered disinformation. Violence against women is a global human rights crisis, but research, awareness and collective action can drive change.
