Mysql on MAC

1. Check the Version of MySQL
My mysql version is as follow when I logon on.
Server version: 5.1.65 MySQL Community Server (GPL)

mysql>show variables like "%version%";
| protocol_version        | 10                           | | version                 | 5.1.65                       | | version_comment         | MySQL Community Server (GPL) | | version_compile_machine | i386                         |
| version_compile_os      | apple-darwin10.3.0

2. Check the Engine of my MySQL
mysql>show engines;

| MyISAM     | DEFAULT | Default engine as of MySQL 3.23 with great performance         | NO           | NO | NO

Change the default setting to innodb
>sudo vi /etc/my.cnf
[mysqld]
default-storage-engine = innodb

My MySQL is /usr/local/mysql, I should restart my server like this
>sudo /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM/MySQLCOM stop
>sudo /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM/MySQLCOM start

Upgrade my MYSQL to the latest version from Here
