I am looking for an example of a function f : R → R f: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R} f:R→R such that f ∈ L 1 f \in L^1 f∈L1 in the sense that ∫ R ∣ f ∣ < ∞ \int_{\mathbb{R}} |f| < \infty ∫R∣f∣<∞ but its Fourier transform f ^ \hat{f} f^ is not in L 1 L^1 L1. Does anyone have one?
我正在寻找一个函数 f : R → R f: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R} f:R→R,使得 f ∈ L 1 f \in L^1 f∈L1,即 ∫ R ∣ f ∣ < ∞ \int_{\mathbb{R}} |f| < \infty ∫R∣f∣<∞,但它的傅里叶变换 f ^ \hat{f} f^ 不在 L 1 L^1 L1 中。
Note that any function whose Fourier transform is in L 1 L^1 L1 must be equal to a continuous function almost everywhere, since F − 1 ( F ( f ) ) = f \mathcal{F}^{-1}(\mathcal{F}(f)) = f F−1(F(f))=f a.e. in this case. This follows from the inversion formula and because the Fourier transform of a function is continuous.
This gives us many examples of functions you are looking for. For example, f ( x ) = χ [ − 1 , 1 ] ( x ) f(x) = \chi_{[-1,1]}(x) f(x)=χ[−1,1](x) must necessarily be such a function.
Added: The function f ( x ) = ∣ x ∣ − 1 / 2 e − ∣ x ∣ f(x) = |x|^{-1/2} e^{-|x|} f(x)=∣x∣−1/2e−∣x∣ is a simple example (much simpler than the original example I proposed). Its Fourier transform is:
f ^ ( ω ) = 1 ω 2 + 1 + 1
