Publisher Description
The #1 New York Times-bestselling author Nora Roberts concludes her compelling Lost Bride trilogy as two women—one dead, one alive—prepare for a terrifying final showdown…
Long ago, Arthur Poole built a grand house overlooking the turbulent ocean, in a Maine village that bore his name. Today, Sonya MacTavish lives in that house—a manor that has been cursed for generations. Within its walls, she has witnessed the deaths of seven brides and the thefts of seven wedding rings. And now, to break the curse and banish a malevolent spirit once and for all, a difficult task must be completed.
After Sonya, her boyfriend, Trey, and their friends are forced to hear, see—and feel—the suffering of the house’s many ghosts as their torment is reenacted by the evil presence, their bond only strengthens and their anger is renewed. Refusing to let her spirit be broken, Sonya searches each room for clues to her ancestors’ hidden story, putting the picture together, unearthing small treasures, and uncovering the moments of joy that existed among the sorrows. She’s determined to bring light to this haunted place—to fill it with people, with life and hope, once again.
But the enemy in the black dress continues to hover, to come at her in frightening forms. They may be illusions—but illusions can be powerful enough to wound and kill. She feeds on fear, and lies are her weapon. This dark-hearted witch wants to be mistress of Poole Manor, at any cost. And Sonya will need to fight a battle across two realms to finally take possession of the house on the clifftop—and of her own future…
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A spectral skirmish between good and evil tests the power of love in Nora Roberts’ thrilling supernatural romance. Since its inception, Poole Manor has been under the evil spell of a witch who kills one bride from each generation of the family. The latest in the bloodline, Sonya MacTavish, is determined to finally break the curse, but the knowledge about how lies beyond the realm of the living. Roberts gives the supernatural elements a slow burn, filling in the gaps with her trademark blend of romance and resiliency. Every setback only fortifies Sonya’s resolve to defeat the otherworldly malevolence and earn her happily ever after with her unwaveringly supportive boyfriend Trey. And we adored the way the spirit of Sonya’s grandmother, Clover, uses song selections to communicate. The Seven Rings wears its ghostly heart on its sleeve and, in so doing, pays off on its promise of thrills, chills, and enchantment.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This satisfying conclusion to bestseller Roberts's Lost Bride trilogy lovingly spotlights various kinds of family while slowly building to a thrilling finale. The story picks up where The Mirror left off, in the aftermath of a tragic vision showing the brutal deaths of the seven ghost brides of Lost Bride Manor, all of whom were murdered over the past two centuries by the evil witch Hester Dobbs. To free the spirits from Dobbs's continued torment, the house's living owner, Sonya MacTavish—supported by her lover, Trey; best friend, Cleo; cousin (and Cleo's lover) Owen; and their menagerie of pets—must find the seven brides' rings, break Dobbs's curse, and bring peace and renewal to the manor once and for all. Despite these seemingly high stakes, much of the novel focuses on the pleasant mundanities of summer in a picturesque coastal Maine town, with regular interruptions from Dobbs to keep the plot moving. With plenty of wish fulfillment and strong character work and relationship building on full display, Roberts once again showcases what she does best.
Customer Reviews
I was a little disappointed on reading the first two books
Then the 3rd book came out it was better i love the ghost that try to help Sonya . , but I love her garden trilogy that’s my favorite one with the ghost sings to any child that stays in the
House. They are trying to find out who she is and what brought her there and why she haunts the house. It kept me on my toes spooky.
