The European Parliament’s 402–250 vote to delay #EUDR implementation and introduce simplifications may push the timeline, but it does not change the direction: traceability, legality, and #deforestation free supply chains remain non-negotiable. And with the final text still pending #trilogue negotiations, preparation is far from optional. This moment should not be seen as a relaxation of ambition, but as a strategic window for companies to strengthen their systems. Now is the time to reinforce #traceability processes, build solid data foundations, and prepare suppliers for long-term compliance. And because trilogue negotiations may still reshape the details, nothing is final yet. Until the amended law is formally adopted, businesses should continue preparing under the current EUDR framework, early movers will face fewer risks and fewer bottlenecks. Key Takeaways from Today’s Vote 📅 One-year postponement: Large operators by 30 Dec 2026, MSMEs by 30 Jun 2027 ⚙️ Simplifications: First #operator holds primary DDS responsibility; streamlined reference-number flows; simplified declarations for MSMEs 🌍 Review clause: #Commission to reassess administrative burdens by 30 Apr 2026 ➡️ Possible exclusions: Printed products may be removed from scope (pending #Council approval) Unsure where to start? Our new #article breaks it down. Begin your #mapping and verification today to stay ahead of the 2026 bottlenecks.

In Phase 3 of the Indonesia Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Coaching Project, a total of 2,767 smallholders have received coaching on #GAP forest preservation and restoration, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture. The initiative is led by Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, General Motors and PT Kirana Megatara Tbk and implemented on the ground by Koltiva.  During a field visit in July, Chuan Heng Gan (Associate Director, GOCPL Natural Rubber - Goodyear), Daniel Goh (Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Goodyear), Chen C. (Impacts and Assurance Manager – GPSNR), Widyantoko (Widy) Sumarlin, MPP, PhD (Chief Sustainability Officer - Kirana Megatara), Yuthvia Denis (Sustainability Officer - Kirana Megatara) witnessed the real-world progress of the GAP Coaching Project. With the highlights: 👨🌾 2,767 (out of 2,700) new farmers have received coaching and 1,709 (out of 1,600) new farmers have completed farm assessments.  🙍♀️ 1,182 (out of 1,080) women coached, and we’re seeing a growing number of young farmers (791 out of 540) in Musi Rawas and Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, leading the way in #regenerativeagriculture, sustainable land management, and efforts to reduce deforestation risks. 📘 Farmers are using the #RubberWiki mobile app to access localized learning modules on GAP along with tailored agricultural calendars that help guide their day-to-day decisions. 🌱 One rubber #agroforestry demonstration plot has been established in this project to test and showcase improvements in soil quality, intercropping systems, and future replanting practices. The 0.2-hectare plot, owned by farmer Subarni, features an intercropping system with banana, durian, and groundnut. 📲 Field agents utilize the #KoltiTrace #FarmXtension app, streamlining field surveys and farm mapping, and syncing directly with #KoltiTraceMIS for real-time project monitoring and data collection. 🌟 We met inspiring young #rubber farmers like Yensi and Ari during the visit, who are actively applying the knowledge they gained in rubber disease management and improved tapping techniques to enhance the health and productivity of their farms. Their stories bring to life the real impact of this program. This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to building transparent and deforestation-free rubber supply chains that are ready for export—while empowering smallholders to lead the way in sustainable agriculture, driving lasting impact for people, planet, and business!

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: The Council of the European Union has adopted its negotiating mandate proposing a delay and targeted simplifications to the #EUDR, but these are not final. The proposal now moves to the European Parliament for negotiation before any amendments can be formally approved. The Council’s position reflects ongoing concerns from member states and industry regarding readiness, technical challenges, and the operational capacity required for full implementation. Key elements of the Council’s proposal: 🟢 Medium & Large Operators: Proposed new application date 30 December 2026 🟡 Micro & Small Operators: Extended to 30 June 2027 🗂️ First Placer Responsibility: Only the first operator placing products on the EU market submits the due-diligence statement 🔗 Downstream Operators: No separate filings; only pass the reference number 📄 Simplified One-Off Declaration: Micro and small producers may submit a single, simplified compliance declaration These proposed adjustments aim to streamline implementation while maintaining the regulation’s objective of transparent, #traceable, and #deforestation-free #supplychains. However, all changes are still subject to negotiation and agreement with the European Parliament. For companies across cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, and other EUDR-impacted commodities, the priority now is to closely monitor the legislative process and adjust preparation plans according to the evolving regulatory landscape. ⚠️ The EUDR’s core framework remains intact. The timeline and processes are still under negotiation.

🌊 What happens when a women-led industry worth $8 million faces its biggest #climatethreat yet? In #Tanzania, #seaweedfarming has been the silent backbone of coastal communities for decades. When men shifted to fishing, women stayed and transformed #seaweed into a thriving business that has powered household incomes, kept girls in school, and strengthened entire community.    Today, that progress is at risk. ⚠️ Rising sea temperatures and changing ocean conditions are reducing yields and making it harder to grow healthy seaweed. At the same time, many seaweed producers still earn too little for their work, putting both livelihoods and millions of dollars at stake.    To protect this vital blue economy, Action For Ocean (AFO) partnered with Koltiva to digitize the seaweed #supplychain in Mkinga District. Through our suite of digital tools—#FarmXtension, #FarmGate, and #KoltiTraceMIS—AFO’s field agents and community facilitators can now capture end-to-end data from farm to processor, creating a living record of production, trade, and impact.     Here’s what that looks like in action:  👩🌾 150 seaweed farmers profiled by AFO field agents using FarmXtension  🔗 Transactions digitized with three middlemen and processors via FarmGate  📊 Real-time dashboards and full supply chain visibility through KoltiTrace MIS  🎓 Hybrid training sessions blending digital and field support to strengthen farmer capacity    For the first time, farmers can see their work reflected in verified data—proof of their productivity and potential. This digital inclusion doesn’t just improve #traceability; it unlocks access to finance, markets, and fairer prices.    "We needed a partner with proven experience in digitizing #smallholder supply chains. Koltiva’s tools allow us to capture the right data, strengthen farmer engagement, and create the transparency required for future market and finance opportunities,” said John Ntagazwa, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer, AFO.

🌍 Agriculture drives 32% of #EastAfrica’s GDP, yet #traceability challenges risk cutting the region off from its largest export market. The #EU is risking €2.75 billion in trade value, yet only 15% of agribusinesses across East Africa are aware of the new EU sustainability regulations—leaving millions of #smallholder farmers vulnerable to market exclusion. From low awareness to digital infrastructure gaps, compliance with the #EUDR and #CSDDD remains a major challenge. So, why is traceability still so difficult to achieve across the region? And what can businesses do now to move from risk to readiness? Across the region, five major barriers continue to slow traceability: ⚠️ Low awareness 🌾 Smallholder dominance 🔄 Fragmented supply chains 📡 Poor digital connectivity 💰 High cost burden In our latest article, discover three practical recommendations for East African agribusinesses and beyond—to turn regulation into opportunity: 1️⃣ Build awareness and alignment across producers, suppliers, cooperatives, exporters, and enterprises. 2️⃣ Map supply chains and verify data collection directly at the source. 3️⃣ Adopt digital traceability tools—offline-ready solutions like #KoltiTrace MIS, built for low-connectivity regions for end-to-end visibility. To jump-start recommendation #1, join Beyond Traceability Talks "Building Supply Chain Traceability and Market Access for East African Exporters", where experts share actionable steps, practical frameworks, and real cases to help East African businesses get prepared. What if achieving global #traceability standards didn’t require rebuilding your entire system? That’s exactly what we discovered at Koltiva through our collaboration with the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Global Food Traceability Center (GFTC). By implementing the open-source Traceability Driver, we accelerated our path to Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) compliance, reducing development time by 60%, avoiding new hires for data transformation, and automating complex data transformations. Honored to be featured by the IFT GFTC team for featuring our journey to achieve GDST capability through the open-source #TraceabilityDriver! In #IFT’s latest use case, “Accelerating Scalable Traceability: The Power of the Open-Source Traceability Driver,” our experience is highlighted as an example of how #digitaltraceability providers can accelerate compliance without rebuilding entire systems. Our implementation delivered measurable impact:   ⏱️ Time Savings: 60% reduction in development time.  💰 Cost Savings: Avoided additional hires for data transformation and integration.  ⚙️ Operational Efficiency: Automated data transformation, reducing manual work.  🌐 #GDST Compliance: Achieved in just one month—far faster than our original plan. 🔗 Read the full IFT use case to explore our implementation process and key learnings: https://lnkd.in/gHQS83HS

In #Vietnam, many businesses still lack a clear understanding of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) as a foundation for #sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Only around 56% have a solid grasp of the concept, while 35.7% view it merely as legal compliance, and 6.8% confuse RBC with CSR (ASL, 2023). Limited awareness, fragmented supplier data, complex #compliance requirements, and resource constraints among SMEs make it challenging to meet rising international due diligence standards such as the #EUDR, #CSDDD and #CSRD. On top of that, climate risks and environmental pressures continue to test #supplychain resilience, especially for those reliant on #smallholders and rural producers. These challenges highlight the urgent need for integrated systems that bridge data gaps, enhance visibility, and drive inclusive growth. 💡 At the upcoming seminar “Advancing Sustainable Supply Chains through Responsible Business Conduct”, hosted by The Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam and the Dutch Business Association Vietnam DBAV 🇳🇱, our Senior Head of Markets – APAC, Olivier Barents, will join as a panelist to share how Koltiva transforms responsible business principles into measurable, actionable impact through our digital ecosystem, enabling companies to map and monitor suppliers, ensure #traceable and compliant sourcing, and empower smallholders through #digitalfinance and capacity building. 🗓️ Tuesday, 11 November 2025 🕰️ 3:00 - 6:00 PM 📍JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Ho Chi Minh City, 2nd Floor – Phu Quoc Meeting Room

🌍 59% of #Africa’s cocoa and 41.6% of its coffee go to EU markets (The Commonwealth, 2025), yet only 15% of East African companies are highly aware of the #EU’s evolving trade and sustainability requirements (Danish Industry Report, 2024). As EU regulations tighten, this awareness gap could define who stays competitive, and who’s left behind. Across #EastAfrica, 90% of coffee farms are run by smallholders cultivating just 1–10 ha (Partnership for Forest, 2024). Most lack GPS devices, smartphones, or internet connectivity needed for #geolocation and digital record keeping.     Combined with fragmented #supplychains where businesses source from multiple #smallholders through intermediaries, verifying the origin of commodities, collecting high quality farm data, verify legal land use, or ensuring “#deforestation-free” production becomes an uphill challenge. So how to bridge the gap? 🎙️ Join us for Beyond Traceability Talks Vol. 4, focused on East Africa’s agribusinesses "Building Supply Chain Traceability and Market Access for East African Exporters"   You’ll gain insights into: 🗺️ Traceability Fundamentals – Why geolocation, mapping, and data continuity matter, and what cooperatives and processors need to prepare now. 📊 Future #EUDR Essentials – Key compliance requirements, including plot-level data, due diligence, and deforestation-free verification. 🔎 Risk Identification & Mitigation – Using monitoring tools, field verification, and local engagement to detect and prevent compliance risks. 🧭 Actionable Roadmaps – Practical, step-by-step strategies to implement traceability systems and meet regulations while keeping smallholders included.
