I noticed the recent overview book about modern databases and their internals in an online bookshop in Latvia (my current source of history books in Russian), and I decided to refresh my 20-30-year-old knowledge of relational databases plus bits of more recent NoSQL knowledge I acquired in the last 7 years. The book's discourse is nice (not a translation), and while reading the first chapter, I felt nostalgic about the mid-1990s when I was preparing for MS SQL Server certifications. When we started Apono, it was because we saw this exact problem coming. Not the specific bug - but the bigger issue behind it: broken access control. CVE-2025-32433's disclosure made it clear again. A critical vulnerability in Erlang’s SSH implementation, scoring 10.0 on the CVSS scale. Pre-authentication remote code execution. Already being exploited in the wild. But this isn’t just about one bug. It’s about what happens before the patch. About environments where always-on credentials, over-permissioned roles, and legacy assumptions leave too much exposed. That’s why we built Apono - so companies don’t have to rely on outdated models. With Just-in-Time (JIT) access, credentials aren’t persistent. With Just-Enough-Privilege (JEP), there’s no unnecessary blast radius. Access becomes dynamic, contextual, and secure by design. This vulnerability is another reminder that reactive security isn’t enough. We need access models that are built for how we work today - fast, distributed, and cloud-native.
