Starting in 2027, the $150 million ATLAS facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, will host Marvel Fusion’s technology demonstrator - featuring two of the world’s most powerful lasers - to validate key technological concepts. We’re proud to be part of FusioTile, a government-funded initiative advancing the development of meter-scale pulse compression gratings (PCGs) for next-generation high-power laser systems. Backed with €11 million by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), the consortium brings together experts from Marvel Fusion, ZEISS Microoptics, Fraunhofer IOF, Technische Universität Ilmenau, and LensTec Jena GmbH. During the recent consortium meeting, partners reported that the design phase is now nearly complete across all institutions, marking a key transition from conceptual work to practical implementation. Significant progress has also been made in the manufacturing of demonstrators and the construction of experimental setups, underscoring the consortium’s strong momentum toward the next generation of prototypes. Construction is moving full speed ahead on one of the world’s most powerful laser facilities — our flagship U.S. project in Fort Collins, Colorado.
