Longevity isn’t just about adding years to life – it’s about adding quality to those years. At the MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE, journalist and author Thomas Schulz highlighted why physical activity plays a far greater role in healthy life expectancy than we once understood – even down to the molecular level. It’s a reminder that prevention, movement and everyday habits matter more than ever. 👉 What’s one daily routine that keeps you active and healthy?

Hierzu zählen MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM mit MEDICA START-UP COMPETITION, MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM, MEDICA ECON FORUM, MEDICA TECH FORUM und MEDICA LABMED FORUM. November in Düsseldorf statt. Impressum: https://www.medica.de/pflichtangaben_some_de

Rehabilitation is changing – not because robots are replacing humans, but because they’re finally learning to work with them. 🤖 Robotic systems are becoming more sensitive to movement, more adaptive to individual needs and more capable of supporting therapies that once relied solely on manual effort. One insight from our interview with Prof. Claudio Castellini stands out: ➡️ Human–robot collaboration isn’t about automation. It’s about enabling more personalized, more responsive rehabilitation. From prosthetic control using ultrasound signals to assistive systems that learn from patients over time – the next leap in rehab will be defined by how well technology can mirror human intention. 💬 Where do you think human–robot collaboration can make the biggest difference?

What if hospitals could free up staff and beds – without compromising quality? Up to 3.5 million inpatient cases in Germany could be treated just as safely on an outpatient basis. Same quality, lower infection risk, relief for overstretched teams. The medical case is clear – but the shift needs more than feasibility: streamlined workflows, solid aftercare structures, and incentives that actually support it. 👉 Where do you see the biggest lever: structures, incentives, or clinical pathways?

Choosing the right CDMO partner can determine your speed to market – and whether regenerative medicine truly serves patients. At COMPAMED, Jacqueline Schmit from Evergen shared why this choice matters: the CDMO you select needs expertise across biomaterials, regulatory approval, reimbursement strategies, and technical complexity. 💡But here's her core message: speed and patient focus must go hand in hand. The best CDMO partners don't just accelerate development – they keep the patient front and center throughout every decision, not as an afterthought. For medical device manufacturers entering regenerative medicine and biologics, that partnership can be the difference between innovation that works and innovation that truly reaches those who need it. #COMPAMED2025

What if a prosthetic could feel like your own limb? Giacinto Barresi uses neuroergonomics – the science of human factors through neuroscience – to redesign medical devices around how people actually interact with them. His method: Low-cost wearable sensors collect neural data in real life, not just labs. This "ecologically valid" insight helps his team build prosthetics, rehab systems, and assistive devices that feel natural and become part of the user's body. When devices achieve embodiment, people accept them faster and improve their performance with practice. This is human-centered robotics.
