Star Wars Flash Mob

Image
On the 1st of October the WDR Radio Orchestra mingled with the crowds on Cologne Wallrafplatz and surprised with well-known tones from a galaxy far, far away....   Despite everything, the music still sends shivers down my spine - and I totally get the look of joy on the onlookers faces...

Retroactively Rewriting Memories

Image
How does George Lucas do it? He not only manages to clobber stuff that we hold dear, he manages to retroactively rewrite our memories so that they were never cool in the first place . Seriously.    The Phantom Menace did grievous harm unto  Star Wars. The Crystal Skull (gack) managed to make me never want to see Raiders again. And now, now, we get this . The carbonite scene from Empire, irreparably damaged. The horror, the horror. Seriously,  I just want to curl up in a foetal position. But, I...must...see...if...there...is...more Aaaargh. Just shoot me. Seriously. Just Shoot Me.

Greatest Star Wars Product *Ever*

The Economics of Star Wars

Image
Excerpted from a post by Tyler Cowen [...] Obi-Wan’s younger prodigy, Luke, was a failure who relied on his dad and wouldn’t at the key moment listen to Old Ben and stay on the Dagobah system to invest in additional human capital (instead he read Caplan on the signaling model), ... and they never even made the final three movies of the planned nine, so we don’t know how it turned out with the unwinding of the fiscal stimulus on the Ewok world. People, next time get your facts straight!
