GSoC 2025 - CPython Documentation Contribution

Hi everyone!

I’m Hridya Sadanand, a first-year BTech Computer Science student from India. I recently started learning Python and I’m excited to contribute to CPython’s documentation as part of my GSoC 2025 preparation.

I’ve picked up my first documentation issue and would love to get more involved with the community. Any advice for a beginner like me?

Looking forward to learning from you all!

Best,

As far as I’m aware CPython isn’t participating in Google’s ‘summer of code’ programme.

Google Summer of Code and https://python-gsoc.org/ suggests otherwise.

I can’t see CPython itself listed (nor Python documentation) – from the getting started page it appears that only projects on that ‘ideas’ page are approved for this year (under the PSF’s umbrella). I may be misunderstanding though as I’m not familiar with our involvement here, so happy to be corrected.

The various Python open source projects participating under Python GSoC program are here: Python GSoC – Home

My understanding is the Python GSoc org is more of the parent fiscal org for the sub projects, and the funds/stipends go to The PSF.

So yes, Python is a GSoC org, but CPython is not (this year, at least. I know we have it in the past).
