Startup Spotlight: Ammisorb Ammonia sits behind half the world’s food, but most of it is still made in big fossil-based plants. Ammisorb’s story starts with a simple question: what if local producers could make green ammonia from air, water, and renewable power—close to where it’s needed? In containerized systems, separation is the bottleneck—yields are low, so the whole setup rises or falls with that step. Ammisorb set out to crack that part so small, distributed units can actually work day-to-day. The team grew from a solo founder into a tight group with ammonia know-how and hands-on build skills, moving from research to real prototypes. That mix of science, hardware, and customer pull is exactly the kind of case we bring into DTU GRIP sessions—so leaders can test decisions against a live venture pushing the green transition forward. When pipes age, utilities often learn about problems the hard way—leaks, heat loss, and disruptive street work. CETO’s story is about turning that blind spot into clarity. Their team moves a small probe through live hot-water pipelines to read material health without digging up roads or draining lines, then turns those readings into clear maintenance decisions. A formal warm welcome to DTU GRIP Cohort 2! The past five months have flown by. Since we said goodbye to Cohort 1 in May, we’ve overhauled the GRIP program — sharpening its focus and revising its content — all to equip our participants with even stronger tools to drive the green transition. The program spans six days in two blocks, and today marked halftime. Today at DTU Skylab, energy took center stage. From Tomislav Dragičević’s deep dive into energy systems to discussions on new battery technologies, the program combined cutting-edge research with entrepreneurial solutions. As Laurits Bach Soerensen reminded us today: “What the world has been building over 120 years, we now need to achieve in just 30 — and it will require over 200 trillion USD in investments.” This shift is not just about decarbonisation — it’s a new geopolitical battlefield that demands rapid industrialisation powered by green technology. That’s why GRIP exists: to equip leaders with the tools, frameworks, and partnerships to navigate what Laurits calls hypertransformation — the exponential complexity of scaling green hardtech. A strong start to the programme, and tomorrow we continue getting a GRIP on the Green Re-Industrialisation of Europe.
