PRESENT SIMPLE
En esta lección aprenderás sobre el presente simple en inglés con oraciones de ejemplo en
afirmativo, negativo, e interrogativo. También conocerás los usos y las reglas de este tiempo
verbal.
El presente simple en inglés es uno de los tiempos verbales más importantes ya que su uso es
frecuente en la mayoría de las interacciones que tenemos con otras personas.
USOS.
1. GENERAL TRUTH (VERDADES GENERALES)
Usamos el presente simple para hablar sobre hechos generales que siempre son verdaderos y
permanentes sobre el mundo:
2. HABITUAL ACTIONS (ACCIONES HABITUALES)
En este caso hablamos de cosas que nosotros o cualquier persona, animal o cosa hace
habitualmente; es decir con una cierta periodicidad.
ESTRUCTURA DEL PRESENT SIMPLE.
LA FORMA AFIRMATIVA.
En las oraciones afirmativas se mantiene la misma forma del verbo con todos los pronombres, a
excepción de HE, SHE, IT.
COMER EAT
Yo como I eat
Tu comes You eat
El come He eats
Ella come She eats
Eso come It eats
Nosotros comemos We eat
Ustedes comen You eat
Ellos comen They eat
Como podemos ver, al verbo de las terceras personas del singular (HE, SHE, IT) se les debe
cambiar su conjugación agregando una (S) o (ES) dependiendo su terminación.
NOTA: Para la mayoría de los verbos simplemente vamos a agregar una S al final del verbo con
las terceras personas del singular (HE, SHE, IT); sin embargo se deben tener en cuenta las
siguientes excepciones.
1. Si el verbo que utilizamos termina en -o, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, agregamos -es al final del
verbo con las terceras personas del singular (HE, SHE, IT)
2. Si el verbo que utilizamos termina en -Y pero antes hay una consonante, cambiamos la Y por i
y agregamos es al final del verbo con las terceras personas del singular (HE, SHE, IT).
3. Si el verbo que utilizamos termina en -Y pero antes hay una vocal, simplemente agregamos s al
final del verbo con las terceras personas del singular (HE, SHE, IT).
LA FORMA NEGATIVA.
En las oraciones negativas añadimos el verbo auxiliar do seguido de la partícula not entre el
sujeto y el verbo, aunque para (HE, SHE, IT) se utilizara la forma does seguido de la partícula not
LA FORMA INTERROGATIVA.
En las oraciones interrogativas, el verbo auxiliar (do / does) se coloca al inicio de la oración
seguido del sujeto.
