AI: transforming ourselves to be transformative for society At the Adopt AI - Grand Palais Summit organized in Paris, I shared our vision on AI for the banking sector and our concrete experience within BPCE. You could wonder why Groupe BPCE, a banking group created more than 200 years ago, is sharing its views and experience? Because, in reality, age is not a resistance to change; it is an experience of change. We want to deliver on two pillars: On one side, as the 2nd banking group in France, with 35 millions of clients, it is our mission to finance the real economy and great transitions, especially the AI transition. This has driven our strategic plan, Vision 2030; and let’s be clear: without banks, those transitions will not spread for the largest number of people. Therefore, BPCE concretely acts today as a trusted partner on the entire AI value chain: 1/ by supporting tech companies, from model development to concrete applications, 2/ by supporting our clients in their technological transformation, 3/ by supporting the financing of AI infrastructure, such as data center solutions. On the other side, we are fully committed to pursuing our own AI journey at Groupe BPCE, within Banque Populaire, Caisse d’Epargne, Crédit Coopératif, CASDEN Banque Populaire, Oney, Palatine, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Natixis Investment Managers. I am very proud to state that the AI revolution is now a very tangible reality for our group, embedded in the daily life of our group, around two ambitions: “AI for All” and “Transformative AI”: 🤝 “AI for All” AI will only truly deliver if it is fully embraced by our 100 00 people, to simplify their daily routine. This has led to a massive adoption of our internal generative AI platform, MAiA, with 50 000 internal users and already 2 million prompts per month. We have also signed, last july, an agreement on job and career management that includes a section on AI. 🎯 “Transformative AI” We have chosen a highly selective approach to business domains (to be more relevant, to provide more freedom, to enhance security), focusing on rapid return on investment: €1 invested, €1 of additional revenues or costs avoided, with more simplicity for an enhanced client’s experience. Of course, “AI for All” and “Transformative AI” must be based on responsible and ethical AI, in line with our cooperative DNA. Leading this transformation responsibly means for example strictly respecting the protection and confidentiality of our clients’ data, pursuing an environmentally responsible and energy efficient AI, and remaining sovereign while not being dependent on any single model. All this journey would not be possible without the tremendous commitment of all our teams! Let us continue to meet the challenges of AI, supporting the technological transition as a trusted partner!
