Architectured lattice structures provide revolutionary solutions for many industries. Their complex internal geometries enable them to overcome the performance of conventional material and to enhance critical physical attributes like strength, stiffness, thermal conductivity, and acoustic insulation. The applications are numerous in many industries like automotive, aircraft or biomedical and it could redefine manufacturing standards with the creation of lightweight, multifunctional structures while reducing manufacturing waste. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques, particularly additive manufacturing (e.g. 3D printing), these lattice structures can be fabricated with unprecedented precision. But companies are facing several significant engineering challenges to successfully commercialize and scale these solutions. We think at Capgemini Engineering that we can address these challenges through digital engineering. Thus we are working with ETH Zürich on the design phase, offering insights, methodologies, and tools to help companies to scale additive manufacturing effectively.
