  • Earlier this fall, we participated in the Houston Marine & Energy Insurance Conference, where Gerry Fahrenthold joined a panel discussion on "Recent Onshore Energy Losses." The conversation explored key themes shaping the energy insurance landscape: ➡️The discussion emphasized the importance of sustainable relationships, where capacity and pricing reflect market conditions, similar to the approach taken by financial institutions. ➡️ Whether insurers have sufficient rate and surplus to absorb these shocks without significant market reactions. ➡️ Human element factors, such as training and contractor management, remain major drivers of losses. However, these are manageable risks, not inevitable errors. ➡️ Insurers are reviewing loss control strategies, with increased focus on analyzing human element factors to strengthen resilience across the energy value chain. Thank you to all participants for fostering meaningful dialogue on how our industry can adapt and thrive amid disruption. Together, we can build a more resilient future for energy markets.

We are proud to have been a part of these conversations at FIDES, including when our CEO Thierry Léger had the chance to take to the stage to share his vision for the future of (re)insurance and highlight the strategic role of partnerships in building sustainable solutions. Thank you to the FIDES organizers for creating such an impactful platform for collaboration and progress. #FIDES2025
