🚀 European Deeptech: scaling up, gaining momentum… and ready for the next leap?   In a new in-depth feature, WanSquare interviewed our Partner Etienne Moreau, who shared his perspective on the state of European deeptech and the challenges ahead. Among his key takeaways: Europe does not suffer from a lack of innovation. The continent benefits from an exceptional scientific network, a steady flow of breakthrough technologies, and an ecosystem that now produces hundreds of deeptech startups each year. What remains harder is scaling. Etienne highlights the need for stronger proximity with major industrial players, both for growth financing and for exits. He also stresses that US acquisitions should not be seen as failures: they often fuel reinvestment, expertise circulation, and the emergence of repeat founders, ultimately strengthening Europe’s technological base. The takeaway is clear: to transform its scientific strengths into global industrial leaders, Europe must channel more late-stage capital into its most strategic deeptech scale-ups. 🚀 Deeptech Community Party 2025: Scaling Forward! On October 16, the entire deeptech ecosystem gathered in Paris and the energy was off the charts. Founders, entrepreneurs, scientists, VCs, corporates, academics: a community driven by one mission: shaping the future of Europe’s technological leadership. 🎤 From real success stories like the exits of SoniVie Ltd and UnitySC, to sharp insights on VC performance by Celia Hart, and high-stakes debates on AI, critical infrastructure and supercomputing (special thanks to Carole Cazassus), the evening was rich in substance. And when Thierry Breton reminds us that deeptech founders need “Super Supernovas” to scale in Europe, we know we’re on the right path. Etienne KLEIN closed the evening with a philosophical punch, calling for us to rekindle the very idea of progress as a way to shape the future: by clarifying what we want, and what we know.
