🧩 Why do we still say VLSI and not ULSI? As integration levels increased, we moved from SSI to MSI to LSI… eventually reaching VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration). Technically, the next stage was ULSI (Ultra Large Scale Integration) — but the term never really took off in industry usage. Why? Because VLSI became the accepted standard, covering everything from thousands to billions of transistors. Instead of changing the terminology again and again, the industry chose to evolve under the same name.
