Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India are increasingly hiring from the startup ecosystem, marking a strategic shift from their earlier dependence on IT services talent. According to Roop Kaistha, Regional MD APAC at AMS, “Fresh 2025 data signals that a meaningful share of new GCC hires now come from startups,” with hiring from IT services firms dropping to 18% in FY24, down from 32% the previous year. This move highlights GCCs’ growing role as product and innovation hubs rather than just cost-focused units. Startup professionals are drawn by the promise of stability, global exposure and higher pay, often 20–30% above IT salaries. Companies like Anaptyss plan to double their workforce by 2027, actively seeking talent from allied industries for their adaptability and growth potential. Alouk Kumar, CEO of Inductus Group, noted, “We see this as a clear signal that the value proposition of GCCs has matured. GCCs are no longer simply competing on cost; we are a destination for innovation.” Industry leaders point out that GCCs now offer real product ownership, AI and IP creation, global mobility and founder-like roles at scale. Centres like Mercedes-Benz AG, Target, Novartis Hyderabad and Amex India have integrated startup-born talent to lead full-stack pods, AI sprints and patent filings. As Sunil Padmanabh, AI and digital strategy architect, emphasized, these opportunities give professionals autonomy while allowing them to impact millions globally. However, experts caution that cultural mismatches and bureaucratic hurdles could challenge retention. To avoid this, Kaistha stressed the need to preserve startup-like agility, streamline decision-making and align incentives with outcomes. As Kumar summed it up, “The best talent wants to solve meaty problems, not just execute on a brief.” With over 6,500 global roles now in Indian GCCs, up from just 100 in 2015, the sector is emerging as the sweet spot between startup agility and enterprise scale.

BLS International appoints Golok Kumar Simli as president for technology and innovation BLS International, an outsourcing and technology services provider for governments and diplomatic missions, has appointed Golok Kumar Simli as its President for Technology and Innovation. Simli, who until May was Principal Advisor and Chief Technology Officer of the #Passport Seva Programme at the Ministry of External Affairs, will now be responsible for shaping the company’s technology roadmap. BLS, which handles #visa, #passport, #consular and other citizen services for several governments, is increasingly positioning itself not only as a processing partner but also as a technology-driven service provider. During his tenure, he oversaw the roll-out of Passport Seva 2.0 and the introduction of e-passports, initiatives that expanded digital access, integrated biometrics and introduced AI and data analytics for service delivery and security. Under his watch, the programme scaled to passport offices, service centres and Indian missions abroad, processing tens of thousands of applications daily. Simli holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science & Engineering from BIT Sindri and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Data Science from Chandigarh University. He has also completed advanced programmes in Business Strategy at XLRI Jamshedpur, along with professional certifications in Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, and Business #Intelligence.
