🤖 Privacy today isn’t a policy—it’s a design choice. At the ET CISO Annual Conclave 2025, this powerful panel explored the hardest question of our AI era: how do we govern algorithms, protect privacy, and preserve human trust? From India’s DPDP Act to EU frameworks, the discussion showed that CISOs and DPOs are now tasked with more than compliance—they are responsible for data ethics, transparency, and safeguarding human dignity in a machine age. Key takeaways from the discussion: AI must be governed, not just adopted: frameworks from IEEE, NIST, and EU standards are critical, but must be tailored for geography and business context. Privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) and data minimization are becoming essential to reduce risk without reducing value. Ethics is the blind spot: as one panelist noted, “ethics is doing the right thing when no one is watching—AI has no watcher.” Cross-border complexity: global businesses must balance multiple regulations while holding a common denominator strategy for consistency. Human values must prevail: empathy, consent, and accountability cannot be compromised for convenience or speed. 💡 The big message: AI may know too much—but it’s up to us to decide how much we let it do. Trust must be designed, governed, and constantly re-earned.
