Engineering division of Honeywell Building Automation (BA) is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support our Electronic Design Applications across various building management systems including Fire and Security. This role ensures the performance, stability, and integration of CAD and simulation tools, enhancing design and development projects. Responsibilities include management and optimization of Electronic Components in GHCL (Global Honeywell Component Library). Engineer will develop, maintain, and administer our E-CAD component libraries and ensure data integrity across our EDM (Engineering Data Management) systems, with a particular focus on Siemens EDM. The ideal candidate will have a background in electronic components, PCB design tools, and data management systems, supporting design engineers with high-quality, standardized library content and smooth integration of E-CAD systems.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
Create schematic symbols, PCB footprints & 3D models for electronic components
Generate ECAD symbols, cell development and 3D mapping in GHCL-EDM
Optimize complex parts symbols and geometry ex: BGA, custom, complex connectors etc.
Execute technical changes while ensuring compliance to standard procedures
Standardize PCB library tools using industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, EIA & IEEE Std 91a-1991)
Learn and follow IPC-7351 and IEEE standards and combine design concepts with DFx skills
Evaluate & qualify components based on electrical, mechanical & environmental parameters
Conduct obsolescence risk assessment, drive risk mitigation and manufacturability
Assist global Electrical designers in process flow development or improvements
Integrate 3D models and management for the ECAD library to/from various tools
Become proficient in PCB design, PB/PBA and DFM knowledge
Support design teams in data retrieval, check-in/check-out operations, and issue resolution
Learn, guide, help and train global designers and team members on EDM best practices
Drive continuous process improvements that support speed of R&D projects
Qualify components based on electrical, mechanical, and environmental risk parameters
Qualification
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2+ years of relevant/equivalent experience
Self-starter motivator with growth & innovation mindset that can work with R&D teams
Good interpersonal skills that are customer-focus with attention to details
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with flexibility to assume various supporting roles
Ontime completion of assigned project tasks while ensuring compliance to quality goals
Skills
CAD software applications, PCB design, PLM, component data management, standards & compliance, obsolescence management, Mentor Graphics EDM and Xpedition is a plus
