AbuDhabi Autonomous Racing League Season 2 has just concluded, and ASPIRE delivered an event that marks the early phase of a new industry in autonomous mobility and AI. What makes this unique is the decision to test complex autonomous systems on a world-class circuit, in front of a live audience, with full transparency over results and limitations. In 18 months, progress has accelerated sharply. The session between Daniil Kvyat and the autonomous car from FTM Institute of Automotive Technology TUM reduced the gap to around 1.6 seconds, showing how quickly performance is advancing. Across the grid, autonomous race cars displayed race dynamics that marked a substantial step forward. The bold overtake attempt by Unimore Racing, combined with their fastest lap of A2RL 2025, highlighted the level of competitiveness reached this season. On our side, we are satisfied with how quickly the actuators developed for Season 2 reached a level of robustness and reliability that allowed teams to concentrate fully on high-level development. And we are genuinely impressed by the top teams that managed to unlock their full potential: from left–right independent braking for CBA stability, to high-torque counter-steering on the PSA, particularly notable on such a lightweight race car.
