It was a very insightful experience to participate in the roundtable on "Aerospace Strategy and Funding Opportunities" at the Thermoplastic International Summit organized by FIDAMC. A great discussion, very well moderated by Silvia Lazcano, alongside Héctor Guerrero Padrón, Deputy Director General of Aerospace Policy and Strategy (Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain), Juan Francisco Reyes Sánchez, Horizon Europe in CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación, and José Javier Alonso Membrives, deputy secretary - Industry, Energy and Mines of Junta de Andalucía. Speaking as President of the PAE (Plataforma Tecnológica Aeroespacial Española), I highlighted that the Aerospace sector is at a crucial moment, and that our strength is rooted in our technological sovereignty in key areas. One of them is advanced composite materials, where thermoplastics will play a key role. To conclude this session, I recalled the conclusions of the Spanish Strategic Research and Innovation Agendas (SRIAs): - First and foremost, aerospace remains a Strategic and Priority Sector for Spain, with very high added value technologies - Secondly, our industry is at a critical tipping point. We must adopt a proactive approach now to strategically position ourselves for the launch of major Industrial programs over the next decade - Thirdly, it is necessary to strengthen and provide stability and predictability to Aerospace-specific Public Funding programs to ensure the sector’s resilience and industrial competitiveness - Finally, strong alignment and collaboration between Authorities, Industry, Technology centers, and Universities is key to drive innovation and knowledge transfer #Aerospace #Innovation #CDTI #Defense #Space #PAE #R&T #Thermoplastics

At EASA, we welcome the agreement at the International Civil Aviation Organization Committee for Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) on new global aircraft environmental protection standards. This includes a more stringent fuel efficiency standard applicable from December 31, 2031 and a new standard for reduced noise levels applicable from January 1, 2029. #EASA played a key role in providing technical expertise in the development of these new standards and facilitating the final decision. Once they have been formally adopted by ICAO and implemented into EU legislation, the Agency will be responsible for implementing these standards within subsequent aircraft and engines certification projects. https://lnkd.in/epCW3f9J

🛰️ Quantum technologies: a cornerstone for the future of space exploration It was a pleasure to lead a dedicated session on Quantum Technologies for Starlab during the Starlab European User Conference 2025, an inspiring event bringing together the scientific, industrial, and institutional communities shaping the next era of low-Earth orbit operations. Starlab, developed by a transatlantic partnership including Airbus, represents the next generation of commercial space stations. It is a multidisciplinary platform designed to host microgravity research, technology demonstrations, and industrial applications after the ISS (International Space Station) era. In our workshop, we explored how quantum technologies can redefine the limits of what is possible in orbit: + Ultra-precise quantum sensors and clocks enabling new navigation and Earth-observation capabilities. + Quantum communications providing secure and resilient space-to-Earth links. + Quantum computing and simulation supporting advanced space mission design and in-orbit processing. Integrating quantum systems within Starlab’s research ecosystem opens unprecedented opportunities for scientific discovery, commercial innovation, and strategic resilience. Thus, advancing Europe’s leadership in both aerospace and quantum technology. The dialogue at Starlab’s User Conference marks an important milestone towards building this vision, one where Airbus plays a leading role in connecting quantum excellence with space infrastructure to unlock the next frontier of exploration.
