  • Italy just hit fast-forward on its energy transition to the tune of €800 million in new support.   Together with Edison, we kicked off a major multi-year partnership with the signing of the first €200 million loan agreement at Palazzo Edison.   This financing will boost Edison’s investments in: 🔹 Renewable energy 🔹 Energy efficiency 🔹 Sustainable public lighting   And because these projects strongly advance #REPowerEU objectives, the EIB will finance up to 75% of total costs, far above its standard 50%.   A big commitment and a big step toward a cleaner, more resilient energy system for Italy.

  • 1.8 billion.   This is not just a number. Nearly half of the world's women and girls have no legal protection from digital violence according to The World Bank data. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and every day, we stand united with victims of all forms of abuse: digital, physical, sexual, psychological, financial, structural, and cultural.   At the European Investment Bank, we have a zero-tolerance policy for gender-based violence and harassment, in all our work, inside and outside Europe.   Today, we wear orange: a symbol of support, hope, and resilience. It reflects our determination to help build a future free from violence, where no one is silenced by fear.   We will continue working to help build societies where dignity, security, and equality are guaranteed for all. #OrangeTheWorld #EndViolenceAgainstWomen

  • What happens when you leave Sofia… only to return? For Teodor Radonov, Head of the EIB Group Office in Bulgaria, it meant coming back not only to his hometown, but also to a country in motion: dynamic and ambitious, confident and innovative, full of possibility. From startup meetings in renovated industrial spaces to the revival of once overlooked neighbourhoods, the city is brimming with energy. One of Teodor’s favourite places to show colleagues visiting Sofia is the Square of Tolerance. It is one of the very few places in Europe where an Orthodox church, a Catholic cathedral, a mosque and a synagogue stand within minutes of each other. The Square reflects Bulgaria’s capacity to coexist, adapt and evolve. This same spirit now drives the country’s growth and innovation. Over the years, Teodor has contributed to some of the EIB Group’s most impactful projects, including: • Building Bulgaria’s venture capital ecosystem through the European Investment Fund. A decade ago, it barely existed. Today the country leads Southeast Europe in funded startups per capita, and is home to multiple unicorns. • Helping shape the Burgas Children’s Hospital, from concept to implementation. This modern, integrated and child centred facility will be the first of its kind in Bulgaria. • Transforming the Sofia Metro into one of the most efficient and sustainable urban mobility networks in the region. It is a clear example of how EU investments can reshape daily life for hundreds of thousands of people.   “Representing the EIB Group in my home country is a constant source of inspiration. It means being part of long-term transformations across mobility, healthcare, innovation and climate action,” Teodor concludes.
