The Q-Neko project for #quantum collaboration between #EU and #Japan is about to commence. Q-Neko (Nippon-Europe Quantum Koraborēshon) unites top-tier research and industry stakeholders in Europe and Japan to advance hybrid #HPC  and quantum computing. The overall objective of Q-Neko is to enhance the collaboration between Europe and Japan, to prepare for the upcoming quantum-accelerated society. To further this goal, the Japan-EU #Digital #Partnership was established in May 2022, highlighting the importance of information exchange on high-performance computing, quantum computing, and hybrid HPC+QC approaches. Reciprocal access for researchers to supercomputing and quantum computing infrastructures is a central part of this collaboration. Funded by #Horizon Europe / EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), Q-Neko thus has five main objectives: #1 Enable extensive EU-Japan researcher exchanges and resource sharing #2 Establish a technology roadmap enabling secure supply chains and future collaboration #3 Develop a high-impact library of quantum-enabled solutions for complex scientific and industrial challenges #4 Create robust benchmarks and contribute to pre-standardisation efforts in HPC+QC #5 Contribute to the HPC+QC integration software stack Coordinated by CSC - IT Center for Science, Q-Neko builds on the unique strengths of the whole consortium, including IQM Quantum Computers Forschungszentrum Jülich German Aerospace Center (DLR) Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives Thales Jij LNE VSB - Technical University of Ostrava QunaSys Aalto University National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Chodai Co. Our latest research has just been published in Sensors: “𝗔𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀” In this work, we developed a Hierarchical Transformer-Boosted Model (HTBM) that integrates advanced feature engineering from photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals with ensemble machine learning methods (CatBoost, XGBoost, LightGBM, Tab-Transformer). 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Achieved clinical-grade accuracy with MAE of 3.87 mmHg (SBP) and 2.50 mmHg (DBP). Met British Hypertension Society (BHS) Grade A and AAMI standards. Demonstrated robust performance across diverse population subgroups, including gender and BMI variations. Outperformed traditional and state-of-the-art models, making it a step forward in cuffless, non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring. 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱: This research highlights the potential of AI-driven, wearable-compatible solutions for continuous blood pressure monitoring, enabling early detection of hypertension and other cardiovascular risks. It paves the way for scalable, real-world deployment in digital health, personalized medicine, and stress management systems.
