🔎 A peer review analysing Malta’s approach to authorising #CryptoAsset Service Providers under #MiCA highlights good supervisory engagement and resources, with recommendations for improving authorisation assessments →  https://lnkd.in/d7FATWHm. 🧭 Key findings:  - Some material issues were not fully resolved when the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) granted the CASP authorisation - Some risk areas were not adequately assessed during the authorisation process - The MFSA has demonstrated a good level of expertise and supervisory cooperation 💡 NCAs in the process of authorising CASPs are advised to closely monitor risks, including business growth, conflicts of interests, governance and intragroup arrangements, ICT architecture, Web3, decentralised products, and the promotion of unregulated services.

📢CBI Sector specific ML/TF Risk Evaluation Questionnaire: The Central Bank of Ireland is adapting its supervisory approach to AML/CFT risk and, over a phased timeframe, replacing the current AML/CFT Risk Evaluation Questionnaire (‘REQ’) with sector specific REQs to capture more detailed and pertinent risk data, to better inform decision-making and supervisory strategy. Following an extended period of consultation with sample firms, and associated representative bodies, they have now published the revised REQ templates and guidance for: 1. Credit institutions, and 2. Payment institutions/electronic money institutions.
