LESSON 02

As Word Classes são as classes de palavras.

Você já ouviu falar das classes gramaticais em inglês? E suas funções? As classes gramaticais em
inglês são conhecidas como Word Classes ou Part of Speech.

Resumidamente, a classe gramatical refere-se ao grupo ao qual as palavras fazem parte.

NOUN / SUBSTANTIVO: São os nomes que damos às coisas, por exemplo:

HOUSE – Casa WOMAN / MAN –

CAR – Carro Mulher /Homem

6
7
Foods

Articles: são sempre usados diante de um substantivo (noun) e são divididos em Definite Article
(THE) e Indefinite Articles (A / AN). O Definite Article (THE) é usado para nos referir a algo
específico ou que já foi mencionado em umdiscurso anterior. Já os Indefinite Articles (A/AN)
são usados quando nos referimos a algo em geral, não especificado.

This is THE Atlantic Ocean.

8
ADJECTIVE/ADJETIVO: São palavras usadas para darem qualidade a alguém ou a alguma coisa.
Elas descrevem e dão características às coisas. Exemplos:

Beautiful girl – Menina bonita Old man – Homem velho

Activities:
01) Translate these adjectives:

_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________

9
VERB / VERBO: São palavras que servem para indicar ações. Isto é, ações que são praticadas
pelos sujeitos. Exemplos:

He plays soccer – Ele joga futebol. The kids study English – As crianças
estudam Inglês

02) Translate these verbs:

_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________

10
ADVERB/ADVÉRBIO: Servem para adicionar uma informação extra a um adjetivo ou a um
verbo. Muitos dos advérbios em Inglês, são caracterizados com o sufixo “-ly” no final de
algumas palavras para que assim, seja formada uma nova palavra. Muitos outros advérbios em
Inglês podem ser: NOT (não) – JUST (apenas) – VERY (muito) – SOON (very).
Exemplos:

Goiânia is very beautiful – Goiânia é muito Sarah speaks English fluently – Sarah fala
bonita. Inglês fluentemente.

PREPOSITION/PREPOSIÇÃO: São palavras que servem para indicar ou expressar uma relação no
tempo (quando acontece algo) ou no espaço (onde algo acontece). E podem expressar várias
relações abstratas também. Por esse motivo, elas se tornam, algumas vezes, difíceis de serem
compreendidas.

Veja alguns exemplos:

Brenda is at the park – Brenda está no parque. The cellphone is beside the book – O
(expressa algo ao espaço/onde) celular está do lado do livro. (expressa a
posição de algo. A condição de algo no
espaço).

11
CONJUNCTION/CONJUNÇÃO: Servem para tornar as sentenças ou frases mais complexas e, ao
mesmo tempo, mais compreensíveis. As conjunções interligam as ideias de uma frase. Por
exemplo:

Sofia studies Math a lot, but she is not so good.

Although Sofia studies Math a lot, she is not so good.
(Although / but, as conjunções que conectam as ideias expressas nas frases)

PRONOUNS/PRONOMES: São os sujeitos das frases e servem para assumir o lugar de um

substantivo. Os pronomes em Inglês já foram estudados em outras aulas. Vamos relembrá-los.

INTERJECTION / INTERJEIÇÃO: São palavras usadas para expressar surpresa, sentimento ou

alguma emoção.

Exemplo:

Bob: Hey, Peter! This is my new car Ei, Pedro! Esse é o meu carro novo
Peter: Wow, it is so amazing! I liked it. Uau, ele é incrível! Eu gostei.
Bob: Yeah!! But it was so expensive! Sim! Mas foi muito caro!
Peter: Uhh? Amm?
Bob: Uh humm… So expensive! Uh humm…. Muito caro!
Peter: Shhh…. Xiii…..
(Wow / Uh / Shh / Uh humm – Exemplos de interjeições nesse diálogo entre Peter e Bob).

Agora é a sua vez de praticar!!!

LESSON 09
Simple Present

31
O Simple Present é um tempo verbal muito importante para a língua inglesa, porque
o utilizamos frequentemente, principalmente para falarmos dos nossos hábitos e rotinas
diárias.
A estrutura do Simple Present é:
Affirmative form: Sujeito + verbo no Simple Present + complemento

Se o sujeito for da 3ª pessoa do singular precisaremos acrescer um “S” no final do verbo.

Porém, se o verbo tiver as seguintes terminações: -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -z, -o, ao invés de colocarmos
o “S”, acrescentamos o “ES”.
A 3ª pessoa do singular da língua inglesa é:
HE (ele – somente para pessoas)
SHE (ela – somente para pessoas)
IT (ele ou ela – para coisas e animais)
Caso o sujeito não esteja na 3ª pessoa, não precisamos mudar o verbo.
