“Language is representation,
it`s not what you say or listen...”
Robert O’Neill stands for the most legendary writer and that
is a consensus in the ELT world community. He was unique,
excentric, enciclopedic and trailblazing.

In the seventies, I met Robert O’Neill1 when he was delivering

an international conference run by Longman Publishing in
Brazil and a very special friendship crystallized as we shared
classroom and homes in Brazil and the UK.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Robert O’Neill He inspired me on new ideas and concepts on oral production
which I have them developed at Manchester University and
also more on teaching in America, the UK and South American countries.

He passed away in 2014 and his last job on earth was teaching Polish nurses in his
deathbed. What a generous, charismatic and glorious brilliance!

As a franciscan friar, I held his hand in his last minutes. I fulfilled the promise of being his
“Angel of Death” and I was proud to inherit his books and carry on his ingenious legacy.

To Him, the greatest of our century, we dedicate this book.

Welcome to
International Certification

The target of this material is to make students be familiar with the English
language sooner than any other school would do around the world.

Thus they´ll be able to understand and speak it in a shorter period of time

when compared to “standard” schools or methods.

Therefore, it´s a mix of different approaches. Its methodology engineering

is based on observing a variety of trainees replies and reactions in larger
companies and school classrooms for over 40 years in different countries. It
is practical, honest, direct, functional of general notions and “humanistic”, id
est, centered on student´s reality, their own life, family, wishes, dreams, job
expectation... The academic syllabus is the same in USA and Brazil in a way
that students can accelerate their International Certification in Immersion
Courses at Learning Institute for Foreign Education, 1507 Park Center Drive
