Resident Evil: Retribution
I enjoyed the first four live action Resident Evil movies, they weren't what you could call good movies as such but they were big dumb fun and because of that I was kind of looking forward to seeing the latest film in the series.
Honestly I thought Resident Evil: Retribution was a piece of crap, pretty to look at but story wise very disappointing.
The Force Within Us
The Force Within Us is the second film made by Star Wars fan Chris Macht and this film explores the positive effects the Star Wars movies have had on Macht's and others lives.
I was really looking forward to seeing this film after enjoying Macht's first Star Wars documentary The Force Among Us and while I did enjoy it I didn't feel it was quite as entertaining as his first film, I did enjoy The Force Within Us and I do believe it's worth seeing but for me at least it just wasn't quite as good as the original film.
The one thing that did amuse me was upon finishing the film seeing my name in it's credits, I had completely forgotten that I'd supported this film via Kickstarter and if Macht was to produce another Star Wars documentary I'd happily support that as well.
Jedi Junkies
I'm sucker for these fan produced documentaries, generally they follow a similar format and try to make the same points ( but often not very well ), Jedi Junkies is another in a series of documentaries about Star Wars fans and how they aren't as socially inept as they are often made out to be.
I enjoyed it.

Lunch with Jenni & KOTG Talk
Today I had lunch with my former co-host of Knights of the Guild podcast, Jenni. I haven't seen her in a good year or so but we talk online here and there. It was great getting to hangout with her again and catch up on each others lives. She has really taken off in the entertainment industry and I'm so happy for her. Sitting there talking to her really made me miss the good ol' days of recording podcasts with her. Knights of the Guild podcast was about the Guild but what I think the listeners really enjoyed was the banter between Jenni and I. She was the funny one and I played the perfect "straight" guy. When she left the podcast it was never the same again. I think it went from a fun fan community driven show to pretty much me doing interviews with the cast and crew. I still think it's a great supplement to the webseries as it does take you behind the scenes but it lost some of it's charm when she left.
Now that the podcast it winding down I was able to talk with her about coming back for a few episodes to help finish off the podcast properly. I don't know when that will be as I still have some interviews from season six but stay tuned, there are some fun plans brewing.
After lunch she took me across the street to the offices of Geek and Sundry (She's a producer over there). It was fun to see how big this You Tube channel has gotten. It started out in Felicia's converted garage and now has offices on Sunset in Hollywood. Unfortunately Felicia was not in the office today so I wasn't able to say hi but it was fun seeing where all the action takes place.
We said our goodbyes and swore that it wouldn't be another year before we saw each other again.

Geeky Bento Lunches Again...
Woah it's been a long time since I've made some bento lunches. As I've said in previous posts I've just been either lazy or too busy.
So here's some that I've made over the weeks and months...
These pics are all taken with my phone, so they are not the best of quality.
This first one is a healthy one of carrots, cucumber, and gherkins on top of a tuna pasta.
This is of some leftovers. Mushrooms, carrots and rice and I think there's some celery in this one! Yuck! I hate celery!!!
Ah, unhealthy white bread and peanut butter... But at least I added some fruits to this lunch. ^_^
This bento box I bought from Longdan isn't the greatest. The lid has loosened, so I had to use some ribbon to make sure it closed! ¬_¬
Here's what was inside... Loads of cucumber, oranges and some tuna pasta again!!
Ok, I had to make a very geeky bento for this blogpost, so in the end I made some pasta, and then fried an egg. Fried eggs don't usually go into a bento, but I wanted it for lunch. Plus there was nothing in the fridge... ¬_¬""
Last but not least is this bento with German salami with chilli cheese slices... and sliced apples doused with some lemon juice and a clementine! Nice for the Geek to eat!! ^_^ The chilli cheese was great too!!
Any suggestions on what I should make next for a geeky bento???!!!

Bear Scotch Pancakes
This is not an April Fool's Day post and I know it's not Pancake Day. But I got this very cute pan shaped into a bear for my birthday from Mr Bear my work colleague. He knows I'm into cute things (but I would've preferred a Hello Kitty one to be honest. Hopefully he doesn't read this in the nearest future ¬_¬""). Though I must admit that it is VERY cute!
So during one evening I used it to make bear shaped omelettes, and then a friend suggested I make Scotch Pancakes using this pan. I asked him for the recipe, and he gave me the ingredients to use. No specific instructions. He knows I can cook, so he didn't give me any instructions on purpose! He is a great baker himself. There's always a cake in the oven! :D
It's pretty easy, and I'm stealing his 'recipe' (more like the ingredients he told me to use) and putting it on this blog. Hope he doesn't mind! Heheh.
The recipe is after these pictures!
My ingredients and the bear pan ^_^ (note: there's no sugar in this picture) |
My new bear pan! |
I didn't fill the entire cup with flour as this is a big cup! |
Cup of milk |
Add the mix together |
Scotch Pancake is cooking away |
My first bear scotch pancake! |
Stack of bear pancakes!! |
I burnt the last one :( |
Banana slices added |
And the chocolate sauce! ^_^ |
Ingredients:
- Cup of self-raising flour
- Cup of milk (I used skimmed milk)
- 1 egg
- Large knob of melted butter for the pan (he didn't say it was for the pan - I had to Google about that!)
- 1 teaspoon of Sugar (optional)
- Grated apple / mashed banana / raisins - for taste (I just sliced up a banana)
How to make (I think it can make 8 - 10 pancakes, I forgot to count):
If you have a blender: mix the flour, milk and egg (and sugar) all together to make a runny batter... If you don't then...
1. Add the self-raising flour into a bowl (and sugar)
2. Add half the milk
3. Add the egg
4. Whisk all the ingredients, and then gradually add in the milk bit by bit so that the mixture soaks it in (I used big cooking chopsticks... I seriously need to buy a whisk!)
5. After whisking the ingredients (it doesn't matter if there are small lumps), heat the pan on a gas mark of 4 or 5.
6. Using some kitchen towel or a cooking brush, lightly spread some melted into the pan. Don't forget the pan is HOT!
7. Add in two or three tablespoons of the mixture into the pan and swirl the mixture in the pan until it is entirely covered.
8. Leave for 1 minute. You will see bubbles popping its way through the pancake.
9. If you want the top side slightly cooked, flip the pan over, but make sure there's no runny batter on the loose, and heat the other side and hold it for a few seconds. The pancake should stay in the pan when it is flipped over. But if you are using a normal pan, just flip the pancake over and not the pan!!
10. Remove the pancake once you are fully satisfied it's cooked!
11. Repeat instructions 6 - 10 until the batter is finished!
12. Serve with the fruit of your choice and with some sweet sauce (chocolate sauce or syrup!)
Enjoy!! ^_^
