Om oss

The Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, named after Carlo Maurilio Lerici, is the Cultural Office of the Italian Embassy in Sweden. The Institute is headquartered in a stunning building of inestimable value designed by Gio Ponti. The famous Italian architect initiated the projects for the Institute in 1953 which was later expanded by Ferruccio Rossetti. It is located in the embassy district and features a theatre, a well-stocked library, a guest house and some apartments, all adorned with furniture also designed by Ponti himself. Our aim is to serve as a bridge between Italy and Sweden by promoting the dissemination of the Italian language and culture. Not only does the Institute organise a wide range of cultural activities and events, such as concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, conferences and seminars, but also it collaborates with universities, museums, academies of fine arts, music schools and conservatories, art galleries and other cultural institutes. With very few exceptions, all events are free and open to the public.
