In partnership with 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 (𝗛𝗖𝗟𝗜) and 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 & 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗸, the programme blended practical innovation tools with essential Intellectual Property (IP) insights—empowering leaders to foster a culture of innovation while safeguarding the ideas that fuel it. 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗮𝘆 On 9th September, we held our 6th Annual Beach Cleanup Day at West Coast Park. This event was organized by SMAG’s Green Committee. Undeterred by the rain, 49 participants came together, including SMAG’s management, employees and in house contractors to do our part for the environment. Total collection of 80kg (nett) of rubbish in just 1.5 hours was an impressive achievement!

We were honoured to host Mr. Nobuaki Mito, President of Sumitomo Chemical Company Co., Ltd (SCC), at Sumitomo Chemical Asia (SCA) on 6 and 7 August 2025. This marked Mito-san’s first visit to Singapore since assuming the role of SCC President, and it provided a valuable opportunity for the SCA management team to engage with him directly on our key plans and initiatives. Over the two-day visit, Mito-san toured our MMA/PMMA plant facilities on Jurong Island and visited our Duo Tower office. During his time with us, Mito-san also participated in an open dialogue session with our Vice-Presidents and General Managers. The session was energetic and insightful, reflecting our shared commitment to pursue sustainable growth, continuous improvement and innovative solutions to address global challenges. Besides SCA, Mito-san’s packed itinerary also included visits to SCC Group companies - PCS and TPC, as well as meeting with Singapore government agencies, EDB and A*STAR, reflecting the strong ties SCC shares with them. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mito-san for his time, insights, and unwavering support. (SCC) This recognition is a testament to the dedication, innovation, and hard work of everyone involved in developing the first chemical recycling project for PMMA under the SSS framework. Successfully have we established mass production technology for liquid crystal polymer (LCP) using biomass-derived materials, marking a significant milestone in sustainable innovation. As a global leader in the LCP market, we aim to obtain customer certification by the end of fiscal 2026 and begin supplying bio-based LCP products by fiscal 2027. LCP is a high-performance engineering plastic used in smartphones and automotive parts. Most of the raw materials used in such industrial applications are currently derived from fossil resources, and in recent years, there have been growing calls to switch various industrial product materials to biomass materials in an effort to achieve a sustainable society. We are combining decades of chemical expertise with cutting-edge biotechnology, including synthetic biology, to develop innovative technologies and cultivate new business areas, aiming to achieve a circular economy. With the powerful theme of "Cultivate Rules Compliance and Foster Positive Intervention," the campaign focused on strengthening workplace safety culture through various activities, awareness programs, and training sessions. This year’s slogan, "𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 – 𝐀 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞!" encapsulated the heart of the promotion month, emphasizing the importance of both compliance and intervention. The HSE Promotion Month was officially launched on 20 May by SMAG Senior Management, with Guest of Honour Ms. Jamie Lim, Director of Major Hazard & OSH Specialist Dept, OSH Division, Ministry of Manpower, and SAA Deputy General Manager Mr. Alvin Chan delivering the opening address. The SMAG HSE Promotion Month 2025 was a success, thanks to the collective efforts of all involved.
